View Full Version : Ignoring individual posters on here...

So there was one poster on these forums who I found interacting with to be rather unpleasant and frustrating.

I clicked around and found that I could ignore this individual.

I feel like my life is going to be so much simpler now! haha

Its a nice feature. I only used it once and apparently that person moved on at some point.

I am new to the feature. I thought maybe others may have missed it too.

I have never found it necessary but then I try to back off when things get confrontational and look for common ground. I can recall on a different forum......I have only belonged to two other forums.....there was one person banned from the site but I was still going head to head with. I'm sure there is good reason to have a safety valve.

Well, there are a few folks here and there that strategy probably won't work for. Oil and water. For me, when I identify the oil to my water, I just ignore. That is what I often do in real life. So on here it might work too. :)

But you have to remember UltraliteAngler, you too come on pretty strong.

CathyA: Point taken. I don't mind if people put me on their ignore list. Sometimes that is just how it goes.

Do you mean there is an actual technical thing you can do so certain posters don't show up on forums?

Or do you mean you ignore people who get on your nerves?

I have recently "hidden" a lot of FB friends and it makes it much nicer to use - I use it primarily for news-weather-local events.

I think it might be difficult to follow the forum if you couldn't read all the messages? I feel I'm missing something here. Actually, there is no one currently active on the forum who I would want to ignore anyhow, but it would be interesting to know how to do it.

I think the only person I ever put on Ignore here was a poster who went by a name that rhymed with "Tacky". And I still was able to see plenty of what he posted because it was not "ignored" when people quoted his posts in reply. !thumbsup!

.

I thought I did this on FB or at least I made it so a whole list of people could only see the posts I wanted them to see but I think I did it wrong because my nosy aunt will say everything I posted and she's the reason I did the whole thing in the first place, lol. So now I barely use it, thinking I will figure that out, but don't take the time. I miss hearing what's going on with some people, I do not miss 4 people sending me the same "send this to ten people and then I'll know you love me" crap. I don't love anyone that much.

He will experience that, and have to use the ignore feature, between the eyes and the processor.
Choosing not to interact is a responsible thing to do, when two are so different it can lead to violating the TOS one agreed to here (some personalities will never meet, also the person you hinted at).

That doesn't mean:

Edit, trying to figure out the embed feature for future posts.

One thing to remember is that even if you put a person on ignore, they can still read your posts. Also, even if they are banned from the forum, they can still read your posts. If you click on your profile page, you can see who has visited your page. It's just good to keep in mind...

Yup. Me too. Plus there is a gal who will not stop whining. I just ignore in my low tech way.
