View Full Version : Why do all the crazies find me???
So, a friend tagged me on FB..Someone was giving away a female, deaf White Great Dane. The story this women gives is still "iffy" to me but whatever. I contacted her and she said "I can bring her by and see if she works with your family."Ok...
Well, the lady brought the dog and I swear, she barely slowed down enough to jump out of the car, walk 10 feet and hand me a dog, with no leash. She was in such a hurry to leave, we just decided well at least this dog is safe.
Ok- so I had mentioned to my neighbor, who has a great dane, that we were going to take the dog and could she look into one of her rescues to help us out. She said sure no problem. They would not be able to get her until Sunday because they were going away until Sunday and would make arrangements on Monday for the rescue to come out. This was all happening quickly on a Friday.
Ok, within 15 minutes of getting this dog, my husband fell in love. Well behaved, fit in like she had been here her whole life. Hubby says "We are keeping her." Ok. I am ok with this. I do rescue and rehoming, no problem.
I ask the said neighbor- hey can you run down really quick and take a look at her before you leave, since all she ever tells me she is a dane expert. Well they get her and are acting strange. They seemed rather annoyed with us and I just let it go. I did tell them we might keep her, depending how she did. Since they could not contact the rescue until Monday, that gave us until Sunday to figure it out. She agreed. She said she hoped it worked out but if it didn't, no problem.
Saturday morning at 9 in the morning, I get this bipolar text from her saying "well your hubby seemed to think something else about the dog and us taking her and we need an answer so we can make arrangements." I texted back and said "I thought we agreed we would let you know Sunday." She goes on a demeaning rant and let me just say, I lost all civility at this point. She was making no sense and when you say things about my family, it's game on.
I told her basically to go suck it and don't worry about a damn thing.
She then posts on FB that she can't wait to move out the "ghetto hood" with the crazies down the road. She is building her 5th house and makes it's know her financial status all the time, to the point you can't have a conversation with her because she always has to one up you on "things"- like I one mentioned I thought a certain brand of purse was nice and was saving up to get one and she said "OH I have 4 of those for years, my husband just buys them as just because gifts." Whatever..
So, she is on my delete list on FB and in my phone..but I swear it's either me or something in the freakin' water in this neighborhood.

You are a bad ass!

UA- after ALL the poo I have been through over the past 16 months, I just don't have time for anyone who doesn't have only the best intentions with me. HAHAHAHA!!!

Wow.
The main problem is people just don't listen anymore. I'd be glad to see her move too.
I want to hear more about the deaf Dane and how she is doing with your family. I love large breeds. Hope she brings your crazy life some joy.

Me, too! We were offered a deaf and blind Aussie one time--a beautiful merle, but I did not think I could handle the communication. I guess with a deaf dog, you use hand signals? Our dogs always like using hand signals for commands.

Amen to this!
She is doing great!!! Thank you for asking. We fostered a deaf Boxer before, so we were ready. She did tell us hand signals but we already changed all that to what we use. She is a smart dog. She is sleeping with my son, which helps, since we already have 2 other dogs and 2 cats. :)
The only problem we have discovered is she is possessive of toys- working on that.
The funniest thing was taking her to the vet, with our other 2 dogs and our son, all packed in the truck. We are quite the clan coming. :)

screw that lady, I'm surprised someone so materialistic even participates in dog rescue. You got a great dog that fits your family, how cool is that?
I did one trip to the vet with 3 dogs and 2 school aged kids who I thought could help me wrangle the crew. The kids made a valiant effort but it was BAD and embarrassing to all involved.
HAHAHA!!! Freshstart..My son is very good at getting doors and checking us in. :)
Yes, I must say she is one of those people who throws money at any time of charity but never get her hands dirty.
She is one cool dog.. I will try to post pics later.
you got the dog. You got the win. The rest doesn't matter. Enjoy her/him
Thanks Kally. I totally agree..I just get so frustrated with the crazies. :)

Honestly, this sounds like miscommunication to me. Your neighbor thought you wanted her to possibly take the dog, then you pushed her to come. I'm not clear what you wanted from her when you asked her to come the second time since you said you decided to keep the dog.
I asked her to come check out the dog, for any issues, since she is a Dane expert, the night we received the dog. I didn't ask her to come a second time, after she went crazy on me.
I love Great Danes. I can't wait til you post photos. I bet a white one is beautiful. I agree with Ultra Light. You are a "Bad Ass".....haha. And sometimes you just gotta be, because of crazy unreasonable people. The stories on trips to the vet reminds me of yrs ago when we first started rescuing stray feral cats. We were ignorant in the ways of cats but had found some abandoned kittens. Stupid us put them in a cardboard box to go to the vet. We were on our way on the freeway when all of a sudden my husband saw something on his shoulder and glanced over and there was a kitten sitting there. Before we knew it we had about 6 kittens climbing all over the car and us and anything in the way. It was a circus inside our little car. hahaha...memories :)

Please post pictures; I love a happy ending, dogwise, and she sounds lovely.
Love dogs.
But on the "crazy people" theme -
I phoned a store new to me to learn where in the mega strip mall area they were located. I asked "where are you in relation to the [name of huge anchor store in complex]?"
I hoped for "south one block, east one more, near the Starbucks" or something.
Instead the gal replied "if buildings were invisible I could see the [megastore name} from here."
?!?!? LOL
I am having a hard time trying to post a pic for some reason. Help???

9 years ago we adopted a deaf puppy mill breeder- Maltese. This was my first rescue & she did not know much about anything in a world outside a cage. I made up hand signals to communicate with her. She knows 7 signs & is an awesome dog. White dogs are more likely to be deaf if I remember it right. All these years later she is still so grateful for a home, happy to get treats etc-much more then the other dogs who never had it bad. Congrats on your new family member!!

that's a good one
my favorite crazy person story from nursing was knocking on my patient's door who had been struggling with incontinence for some time and chose to just pretend it wasn't happening, I had gently tried to urge her to at least put pads on her furniture, nothing doing. So as she is greeting me at the door she is peeing all over the floor and is just chatting like it's not happening. Trying not to get sprayed, I said, "this is getting unsafe, you could fall in that." She goes, "what, that's not me, it's you pissing on my rug! I'm just nice enough not to say anything." Denial ain't just a river......

it was disgusting in her house, she really ended up ruining it from that. The first time I referred to the adult undergarments, she pinched my arm like a 7 yr old, lol
Materialistic people and controlling ones think that they can impress or influence you with what they have money and stuff. Im so proud of you that you just deleted that person out of your life. Some just like drama and bring drama where ever they go.Im glad the new doggie got a second chance!!!Wonderful story.

Oh dear god, paper clutter and people who have no clue how to organize.
i am taking over the presidency of a local plant society. There are no essential records in paper form at this point, it's all digital (except for financial records). But the Prez who is in ill health wanted me to come to his house and plan to spend the day because it will take that long to gather all of the records, according to him.
i envisioned that we would sit with a box or two of the organizations old records, go through them, tossing all relevant stuff from his term of office.
If only. You have no idea what I was in for: no, he has piles and piles of papers in boxes all over his house, none organized in any way and 99% are his own stuff. I have NO interest in his personal papers. So for every pile of paper, we might extract 1 or 2 items belong to my club.
Anything I wanted to throw away for my club he said no--you might need that! So I resigned myself to simply taking all club paperwork home and sorting it again then.
After nearly 3 hours of this yielding a few papers that were not useful, I left.
fortunately, the trip, wasn't complex useless since I needed his signature to transfer the registered corporate agent to me, and
I needed keys to the storage shed.

What a nightmare IL.
Those dreaded words "you might need that"; 99.3% of the time, you don't.
