Tradd's post got me thinking-

It's been relatively quiet with the crazy, nosy neighbors. For the most part, we have ignored them. The addition of our cameras outside has deterred the weird son from walking through our yard and when I am outside now, I keep one of my dogs on a 5 foot lead (6 foot is allowable here in Texas) outside with me. Best deterrent ever.

This morning, I was out prepping my plants for our first freeze and here he comes. I could hear him dragging his feet across the cul de sac and I just kept working. I brought my boxer/mastiff out with me and no even a hello was exchanged. YEAH!!!!!!!!!

We have turned them in, again, for their dogs being off leash because once again, the dog went after someone who was out walking. I am waiting to see if they take the dog. This is the 3rd time for us turning him in and I know of a few others who have done the same.

I know the whole situation with our house being broken into must be killing them to know. I heard from a trusted neighbor that he was fishing for information and had the dates, times, who, what, where and when all down. She just ignored him and got out of the conversation as fast as she could.

Still can't wait to move..we are going to look at houses tomorrow. :)

You know, about their dog--I'd check on the local ordinances on that. If you've reported the dog three times and other people have reported the dog--I'm surprised nothing has changed.

Cousins of mine had their dog attacked by an off-leash dog during the town parade. Their dog was sitting at their feet. It took $4,000 in vet bills and a two week stay at the vet's before the dog was well enough to come home. The bully dog was quite large and simply bit their small dog on the side, picked it up and shook it back and forth. Blood was flying. I was there and it was pretty awful.

When they reported the attack to the town, it was mentioned that this was the fourth report, and something would be done--4 was apparently the magic number. But nothing was done. When they pressed Town Hall, it turned out that the dog was owned by the son of prominent people in the town, and had a bad temper, so no one was willing to tell him that he had to remove the dog from city limits. Didn't have to have the dog put down, but town regulations required that the dog no longer be housed within the town.

My cousins found out that the dog had attacked many other dogs and the attacks were not reported. My cousins ended up hiring a lawyer, who pointed out that next time, it might not be another dog, but a small child who was attacked, and finally the town did what they were supposed to do, six months before.

So I'd check to see what should be happening with the dog, and making a fuss if the rules aren't being followed--either by local government or the dog's owners.

I think he may be having the dogs stay at his parents house next to us, so if they say "oh you got rid of them" ,technically he did or they no longer live with him. UGH!!! I will wait and see what happens this time. Like I said in previous forums, he uses his "disability" to his advantage when necessary. These dogs are not service dogs but I think he puts on a good show for people when he wants them to feel sorry for him.

When the lady brought the deaf dane, he was outside within 5 minutes "throwing out trash" like he does to see what is going on. My hubby opened the door and just stared him down and the guy tripped trying to get back to the house. It's still creepy to me.

REally hope that you are able to find a new home that you like. In the 1980's we had crazy neighbors & it was terrible & scary especially since we had kids.

Thanks. We found a few potential homes. We are going to go look at 1 tomorrow. It's in a neighborhood but on larger pieces of land, which is nice. And it's set off so it's not all lined up with the rest of the homes and is set back on the property. It's a bit big for us but things all depends on the layout, which may be an advantage.

Hoping this is resolved as fast as possible, with you in a comfortable new home. You have done an incredible job dealing with everything and deserve some peace.
