I always know that running these camp days is a challenge. Different staff from different sites and styles, I work long hours across town so it is hard to get everything. I rely a lot on phone calls or email and some in person meetings. It is still fraught with miscommunication. I know that, and right now I am f**ing furious. One staff tried to not come in when she was scheduled and didn't let me know ahead of time, her coworker simply said 'she takes the bus', No, not an answer. I had one person out with food poisoning and we were fine, but not 2. So she got there late but got there.
Right now, at 10 pm, I saw I had a voice mail from about 6:30 (camp goes until 6 so I didn't stay tethered to my phone when I know it is closed okay). She said she didn't know that I had her on the schedule both days and she will be late tomorrow. What? I talked to her extensively about her plans and my concerns that they would not cover the 2 days for her group but she assured me that she had done this program over a week during the summer. Just trying to have a conversation with her has been maddening, missed calls or meetings, telling me that having minutes on her phone or internet is not a financial priority. At this point I have 30 kids and 2 1/2 hours to cover tomorrow with no plans (it is supposed to be Edible Science so not something I can just fake it on).
I don't want to work with one of these people again, the other I can work with if I have a strong discussion with them. Right now I need to contact the supervisor in charge of this camp (really glad I am not a supervisor), I am hesitant that it will come across as me not communicating well enough but it doesn't matter. Had to blow off some steam here, grr
