View Full Version : You don't need a bigger house....
Said with my best Jedi mind trick voice :)
Helping a friend clean out her home. She was insistent on moving, because she needed more room. Spent a day working on 1 room with her and now she says " I don't need a bigger house, I just need less stuff!!!" Bingo!!!
She called me today to tell me she tore through her bedroom and for the first time in years, had peaceful sleep. :)

Too late for such an important realization, I am guessing...

That is my mother's refrain: "I just really need a bigger house!"
She lives in a 1400 sq ft house that my brother built for her on his property.
It's 2 bedrooms, but the second bedroom doesn't have a closet because the county wouldn't permit it. And it really wouldn't be appropriate, because that is the Library: floor to ceiling bookcases full of books on every inch of wall space.
She doesn't have room to display all of her collections. And she "needs" a panty to put all of her dishes in- "12 complete sets."
I hate going there because she always asks me "what do you want when I die?" The truth would hurt her feelings: only the small china dancing girl that was Grandma's. I know I'm supposed to get the cedar chest. She promised me one for high school grad. That was 45 years ago. I would have liked to have had it when I had a bigger house. But I'm past that stage of my life and I truly don't want it now. It will go directly to the consignment store if it is given to me.
I know that "collecting things" has been her life's work, but it just makes me sad.

Actually, she was out looking at houses with me and might be changing her mind. :)

This was my mom and dad..their valuable collections that basically rotted the past 3-4 years. Then my sister and brother took what they wanted and I can say, it's only worth memories but they it's millions. BIL is banking his retirement on it...wait while I roll my eyes. :)
