First thought - chainlink doesn't contain rabbits.
Second thought - Makes perfect sense to me.
Imagine somebody came by and took all of your fishing stuff because you were torturing and killing fish and eating them. Would you stop fishing? Would you becomea vegetarian? In her mind, that would be exactly the same. Actually, in her mind it would make more sense because you do kill fish on purpose.
Nobody is addressing the underlying issue, so they will have to keep treating the symptoms.

Very interesting.
I would not see it that way, and admittedly, I don't think I can see it that way. But to see it through her eyes for a moment is interesting.
To me, managing the lives of 100+ pets just seems so profoundly daunting.

It seems sad to me, both the news story and the event. Glad I am not afflicted with this particular obsession. Don't understand the gawker phenomenon.

Crazy! There is definitely a limit to how many pets a person can properly take care of. Exceptional people maybe a dozen-most not nearly as much.

The rabbits are like her medicine for loneliness, I think.

I have seen in dog rescue where people keep taking in more then they can handle & after awhile they are part of the problem they were trying to solve. Unfortunately, not all can be saved.

Not all can be saved by an individual, that I would agree with.

I agree. The underlying issues need to be treated. So true but also incredibly difficult.

My dad use to raise/train hunting beagles in the 70's. We had over 100 with all the pups. But we were far out in the country, had nice long (well cared for 6 ft wide by 20 ft) runs with big 6 ft wide by 5 ft deep houses on the back. He had a waiting list for buyers. Dogs were worked/trained daily so they got plenty of out of run time.
I don't think I'd ever own another beagle but they were sure cute!

Noi know what 4h is. Raised three 4h kids and have mentored more.
i'm wondering:
Reminds you of 4H
4H is the solution
4H is the problem
other, please specify.

Seems like the perfect opportunity to get the local 4H small-animal kids involved, to help out/educate/...
We get a lot of incomers around here who don't understand why their neighbor has "so many animals", and start complaining that things aren't like they were back in the city. In this case, it's sort of the reverse.
