View Full Version : Slower Delivery from Amazon?

I'm buy a lot online this year, since I'm having leg problems. But even though I started ordering in early November, their usual fast delivery isn't happening. And their tracking is really messed up. One thing says it will be late since there were problems.......but I already got it! They keep saying some items are progressing to my house........but haven't even been shipped yet.

Maybe they're just getting overwhelmed? but I'm sure they've hired a few million extra workers. We have a distribution site here about 10 miles away. It gets sooooo busy with employees and shipments this time of year, that they had to build an exit off the interstate, just for Amazon. Just wish it wasn't so close. It was all farmland............now it's a city. I guess I can't complain if I'm ordering from them?

Anyhow......anyone else finding Amazon slower/less organized than before?
And no.........I don't want drone delivery! :~)

Mine has been normal, but maybe as we get closer to the holidays, it won't be!

Maybe I'm just ordering funky things this year? I've heard of a few bad crashes with FedEx trucks this season. What a mess that must create for sellers and buyers!

I really have gone a bit crazy with ordering. I always try to get just a little over Amazon's $35.00 free shipping thing, but sometimes it's a real challenge. I might find one little thing, but it's sold by some other place through Amazon. Or I decide on one thing after reading tons of good reviews, and then I find really bad reviews and come to an abrupt stop and have to start over. Or the prices change just as I'm getting ready to order! It drives me crazy.........but it's still better than driving everywhere, looking for things. Let's face it, this time of year, everything drives me crazy. :0!

Doesn't amazon ship through the post office (USPS), I like that as I have had various problems with other shippers and find the post office the best of the bunch, but I have found the post office slower than usual (for bills etc.). Blame budget cuts and our ridiculous congress that wants to bankrupt the post office I guess.

I really don't know about Amazon, I still mostly use them to purchase used books, and well they are used and so whatever they take their time, if one is silly enough to want to own paper books that's how it goes. I've ordered other stuff through Amazon but not often enough that I'd notice. The post office is slow these days though, that's for sure.

Everything I looked at on Amazon the other day said arrival wouldn't be until after Christmas.
Crazy!

Hmmm. Maybe it going through the USPS has made it slow. It would probably go faster if they didn't deliver all that junk mail all the time.

There has been so much bad weather all over the U.S. (Interstate 70 was closed here in Kansas for awhile last week), we just had a major holiday which most people don't work, so I wonder if that, and unlucky timing for the order has something to do with the slow delivery? And wasn't someone on strike, or going to go on strike - UPS? Plus, not everything ships from Amazon. My friend has Amazon Prime, so she gets her shipments quicker, but I can wait a couple more days and pay ZERO for shipping.

Just curious........(I don't have Amazon prime either).....what happens if you have Prime and it's delayed?

Typically, ALL the carriers get backed up after Thanksgiving, and both FedEx and UPS don't allow any vacation time after Thanksgiving. I think both of those have a last mile contract with USPS, as I know a lot of the stuff I have ordered, has been shipped and then the post office delivers it "the last mile". What that does is allow the others to concentrate on their commercial routes and residential routes that have a lot of deliveries, rather then one or two in so many miles.
The shipping notice, says shipped, when it has moved from in storage on a warehouse shelf, to the outgoing section of the warehouse (awaiting pickup by the carrier). If the carriers vehicles are full, they may sit for a couple days before leaving.
I tend to get stuff before it is supposed to arrive, IF I ship to a commercial address (work). On time or after if it is shipped to my house.

I've ordered quite a bit for Christmas and I am one of my brother's Prime people. A few things were one day late.

Twice I returned things, it was very clear that to have a UPS pick up was $0.00, as was taking it to a UPS drop box, so of course I chose free pickup. Got dinged $6 the first time, wrote that I had tripled checked and the screen had clearly said $0.00, they gave me back the $6. Same thing last week, again I got my money back but I told them something is messed up in your system that it keeps saying free when it later is not. So if you return, be aware UPS pick up is not free no matter how many times they say it is, lol.

I've ordered a bit from Kohls, that seems to take ridiculously long, like almost two weeks.
