Seems like our plastic chair mats wear out much too soon. And I don't think anyone recycles them. :(
But......this time when ours starting cracking and getting some holes in it, DH pulled out the 2" wide shipping-type tape and put row after row of it over all the cracks. And it's doing great! It has really stabilized the whole cracked area (which is about 2'x2').

Clear duct tape might work a treat, too!

Thanks Steve...........I hadn't thought of that. We're big ducttape users here, but forgot it comes in anything buy gray! :)

It comes in all kinds of colors (and patterns) now. With my proclivities, I'm surprised I don't have a whole rainbow of it. But so far I only have the traditional and white.

I used clear Gorilla tape over a cracked panel on the back of my car last year and it's still holding up really well, much better than the packing tape (didn't hold up to the weather and sun).

I have an old chair of my mother's. It's comfortable, but it's made of something like vinyl. I forget what it's called.....something like Naugahyde? It's torn down by where your leg bends. It was taped with clear tape for awhile, but it's come loose. I looked for a cream-colored duct tape, thinking that would work well. I almost bought a roll.......then discovered it was "glow in the dark" duct tape. haha
