View Full Version : Iris lilies...........is the flooding near you?
Just curious if the horrible flooding in MO is anywhere near you? I hope not!
We've got historic flooding. In fact they are going to need a new high water marker sign down the hill from my house. We went down last night and you can't see the pole where they put the 2008 high water or the pole they attached on top of that sign with a new sign marking the 2011 high water mark, they are going to need a new pole on top with another sign. 120 homes in the area under water along Lake Taneycomo, quite a few roads still closed, they are letting 53,200 cfs out of the 10 gates on TableRock Lake Dam.

Thankfully our flooding is starting to go down. The flooding around St Louis is still rising I think.

The flooding is all around me but the heart of the city is high and that's where I am, so we are fine. Lots of destruction around here, though.
Float On......I forgot you were from MO too. IL.......I'm glad you're on a high spot. It's just unbelievable to see the pictures of places where the water is almost to the tops of the homes/businesses.
Float On.........I'm glad your water is receding. Our creek floods, but fortunately goes down fairly quickly. Half of our property (about 15 acres) was totally under water. That means there will be lots of Turkey Vultures to clean up the little animals that didn't make it. A lot of the trees are falling over in that area, since it floods so easily.
The weather is sure crazy. I hope it doesn't plan on staying that way for years!
Stay safe everyone.

My step mother bought a house in MO but she specifically bought on the high side of the river for just this reason.

The UK had had some awful flooding over the last month or so. The city of York has been badly hit. Their Viking museum, Yorvik, has been badly damaged, but they seem to have rescued many of the IIth and 12th century artefacts. Yorkshire and Lancashire and Durham have also been hit.
Dumfries and Galloway have been badly affected and more rain is expected. Cornwall has also been affected.

I read on the BBC online about the army being called in to help cope with the flooding. Hope that this gets resolved soon as starting winter with flooding is very challenging.
