View Full Version : IPhone question
Lately, I've had a message come up on my phone saying "Carrier needs updated" or something like that. I have put it off, because I'd never heard of it before. Anyone do the download and does anything bad/good happen?
The carrier settings are important because they are always used to correct something. The various cellular companies sometimes make changes to their networks or discover problems on their networks which must be remedied. For instance, AT&T recently had some voicemail issues that were resolved by a carrier update, and there was a really big problem with the iPhone connecting to cell towers that was also resolved by carrier updates.
Thanks Alan. If that notice only comes up occasionally where can I find how to update it now?
Settings>General>About. If there is an update available, it will pop up there.
Other times, carrier settings updates are mandatory and you will only receive a notice that they have been updated. When you receive one of those, just press OK as an acknowledgement of an action already completed.
Thanks Alan. You're a great source of info! I pressed on all the right buttons. It didn't say anything after that. Should it? I went back to do it again, and nothing comes up, so I'm assuming it did it's thing.
Are you familiar with "Find Friends" app? It's a great way of keeping track of a family member who's on a trip. But many times, it's extremely slow or even inaccurate. Do you know if that's normal? I love this app......but I have to admit it can get you into trouble if you're watching where people are too often. It's too easy to turn into a voyeur. :~)
I haven't tried the Find Friends app. I'm assuming if I activate it they can find me too? No thanks!

I'm going to do the 9.2.1 update today, it's mostly security related but some people are saying their devices are running faster
I use find my friends sometimes on vacation with my kids so we can find each other for dinner or something. Then I usually disable it until the next time.
But I think I forgot recently cause my 8 year old grandson texted me asking where I was, then telling me I'm probably home cause the app says I am. So much for privacy. :)
