I've been hearing he might run as an Independent. I like him.

I'd love to see him run, but obviously not for the same reason you do. I think he's an (expletive deleted). But he would spend at least a billion dollars on trying to get elected and that one billion less he will spend on gun control.

Isn't Bloomberg the fellow who was going to save us from the scourge of the Big Gulp?

Yes.

If he runs, I'd take a look at his candidacy. His instincts are right on public health. :-)

I'm assuming he'd draw votes from the Democrats, but probably not enough to rescue the GOP from it's own folly by himself.

GOP folly? Examples?

There's Trump of course, pushing statist policies and unreflective populism that are more appropriate for a leftist than the party of Coolidge.

And behind him is Cruz, who has in some ways built a career on making enemies.

Most of all, is the elevation of ideological purity over political reality. They're acting like a bunch of common Democrats.

I think everyone who ranks 25 or higher on the Forbes list should be required to officially enter the race. They're all in it one way or the other so its just a matter of transparency.

When's the last time a third party candidate won, if ever? Lincoln in 1860?

What a great idea. Maybe Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen could run.

1860? And then we had civil war.

1860? And then we had civil war.

I think that would have happened even if he had run as a Whig.
