Not that it's likely to matter 3 months from now, but I found this interesting. I just got the form from the Board of Elections asking me, as a non-affiliated voter, to pick what party I want to vote in for the presidential primary. (If I don't return the postcard I won't get a presidential primary ballot) My choices are the American Independent Party, the Democratic Party and the Libertarian Party. I find it interesting that the Republican Party doesn't want independents to vote in their primary.

That is interesting, JP1. In MA, we are called "Unenrolled," and we choose which primary ballot we want when we arrive at our voting location.

ha the only reason anyone would do so in my view is to stop having a president Trump (and it's not really that compelling a reason compared to voting for something, but the guy is completely off the rails deranged). Oh well I suppose we should welcome our new Republican President Donald Trump, it's what Republican voters want afterall, which is a sad sad commentary on the state of things indeed. No ability to vote Green party primary though? i wonder if I'll ever get one of those things, the mail itself is fairly unreliable and vastly delayed these days, so I suppose it's nothing anyone can count on getting in the mail rather than inquiring about. I mean I'm in California and have not gotten it yet, despite the unreliability of the mail my bills usually do get here, just very very very late nowdays.

Apparently the Greens aren't having a primary here.

Because I travel so much for work I'm registered to always receive an absentee ballot. I assume that if I went to the poll I'd just get to chose when I got there.

There's an American Independent Party? Who knew. I've been a registered Independent for nearly thirty years--since I moved to Washington--and I've never heard of such a thing. Think of all the political festivities I've been missing out on! :)

Jane: We had a choice of an Independent Party ballot at the primary, but nobody was on it.
