someone posted they needed a bike. Since it is unlikely this one eyed, heart defective, fall on her face person is going to be riding a real bike anytime soon, I decided someone needs one, I have one, let it go. Then I mentioned I had bikes for bigger kids as well, she has nieces that can use them. Gone and done and free space in the garage. I like knowing that a specific person wants or needs something you no longer want or need and you can provide it. That feels good.
I agree. Freecycle is the best.

That's great!
Very generous of you, freshstart.
wanted to mention another idea: a friend had to clean out an old barn that he had been storing old tools, farm implements, etc. that he'd purchased over 20 years. He'd sold the property so it all needed to go. He contacted a local museum and they liked some of his metal pieces so they showed up with 5 guys and a forklift and a truck and hauled them away. The museum got some artifacts, and my friend got a tax deduction and part of his barn cleaned out. Free can work out for everyone!
Ya know, I was just thinking about Freecycle the other day. I was on there for several years back in the 00's. Then I started really getting sick of it. People no-showing, or filling my inbox with cr@pola, meanness, etc.
Is it different now? I was just for a tiny minute thinking of looking into it again.

I'm having positive experiences. I think our mods really censor posts, it takes forever to get one approved.
