Ex friends of ours have perhaps the worst financial track record I have ever seen. Hence the ex friends part. Escapades have included buying houses, taking as much money out as the banks Will give them then walking away. Dwi's involving huge legal fees to get out of them. Not paying alimony to ex and so on. Last year declared bankruptcy. Their kids have multiple kids with multiple partners. Same story of child support problems, job loss (nothing is ever their fault of course). We have very casual contact with them.

Today we we get a newsy email sent to everyone on their contact list with a picture of their new vacation house on a lake. Lots of gloating about how wonderful life is. I don't get it. How can this be?

I really wish they were scamming the lenders and sending all profits to a sectet bank account in Switzerland.

but they sound like consuma suckers, so they are spending their dollars in America. Well, that at least is good.

i really do not know how people like this are surviving financially, but its pretty likely they live on the edge at all times. That drama would exhaust me.

I would take this with a grain of salt. Maybe it's just a rental. And even if it is "theirs", going by their history,it won't be for long

Be free, maybe you are right. It all seems so insane to me. I haven't been able to figure out why they have been allowed to keep their house as well as two nice cars. With the first foreclosure, they stayed in the house for many months until they were forced to leave when the bank turned off the utilities. It is all so weird when you see people struggling to make payments and doing everything they can to meet their obligations. You would think someone would have caught up with them. Iris, I could not imagine the stress of living so close to the edge.
