View Full Version : I see dead people............
LOL.......not really......but I DO hear things.
I'm wondering if this has something to do with my ADD/hyperactivity.
My mind is always zooming around..........I see images of things from my entire life all the time (in my mind's eye). It wears me out. But now I'm hearing phrases that have nothing to do with what I'm doing/working on at the moment. It's very strange. I wish I could remember some of the sentences/phrases I hear. I'll make up an example......."That's the suggestion I would give." or "It's not easily described". I still have a couple small amalgam fillings, so maybe I'm receiving radio transmissions? :~) It's just so darned weird.
Oh.....and if I have a small fan on when I'm working on the computer.........I hear music!
See.......I always knew I was an alien.........
Maybe it does have to do with your ADD....I've wondered at times whether I should be tested. I talk to myself a lot. Not just about what I'm presently doing, but rehashing stuff and miscellaneous lines I've read or heard.
Man, I talk to myself constantly! I'm thinking that I can hear my voice better than I can hear my thoughts??
Maybe I'm just turning into an old fart? Don't they do that a lot? :~)
Actually, I just googled this experience and it sounds like it's not uncommon to hear phrases/sentences in your head. Although it's mostly done by schizophrenics. oh well. >8)
Have you been diagnosed as a schizophrenic? If not maybe get checked please. Can make all the difference in the world if so.

I think it's unlikely Cathy A is schizophrenic.
Late onset schizophrenia? That would be unusual indeed. But I'd buy drug reaction, if it's a recent thing.
From a list of Cipro side effects:
Hear voices, see things, or sense things that are not there (hallucinations)

My Mom was given a pain killer after surgery and she saw dead people, spiders and thought the hospital was filthy. It all went away when the meds did. Schizophrenia does not occur later in life.
I think it's unlikely Cathy A is schizophrenic.
I am sorry if I offended poster, I have no idea how old she is , or medical history or if it was a serious call for help post or kinda joke post. After going through a loved ones search for answers to their mental illness questions and finding out then getting help and seeing a total change for the best:) I now take nothing to lightly when someone speaks of mental or drug issues for that matter.
Peace
No worries ctg492.........I wasn't offended! I've always been a little "mentally different" than other people, so maybe as I age, it just gets worse. I've heard these voices for years, but they've increased in the recent past. Since I've recently changed SSRIs, I think my fragile brain is more anxious about certain things.........one of which is hearing these phrases/sentences in my head. They aren't bad things..........they're not speaking to me to behave in a certain way.......they are just nonsensical/benign phrases. I really think it is part of my ADD/hyperactivity. I also see images of various things all day long. It's just "normal" stuff for CathyA. :(
I was just curious is anyone else has these things in their heads.
I have a friend with multiple personalities and she talks about hearing/taking part in conversations in her "headspace".

The fan, is it plastic or metal?
A metal fan (or parts of the fan) could act as an antenna, and pick up stray radio waves, or electromagnetic signals from poor shielding of the computer.
Not sure about the whole can't get Schizophrenia later in life thing, as I have no knowledge or experience to the best of my knowledge. So I don't have a clue about the process of it, or if some sort of brain injury could cause it. I do agree with checking meds for side effects or effects from mixing with one another.
Can't really tell if your seriously hearing voices, or your joking about your subconscious/gut feelings.
While schizophrenia is uncommon later in life, there are other mental and emotional stressors that can cause altered thoughts. Depression with psychotic features, PTSD can have psychotic features, acute stress reactions, etc. And the side effect thing is very real. It would be good to tell your doctor just so these causes can be considered.
Also brain changes in later life caused by neuro changes or a mass ... Don't want to scare you as its rare but I've seen it. What we think is a new schizophrenia in grandpa turns out to be a brain tumor or swelling aneurysm etc.
Yeah, I'm thinking of brain things too. Several years ago I had an MRA and MRV.....which looked at my brain vessels. I was having very loud pulsatile tinnitus. It was all normal........I'm still having the pulsatile tinnitus though.
I haven't had headaches or vision problems, so I'm not thinking "brain tumor" that much. I guess another thing to keep an eye on is normal pressure hydrocephalus.......which i think can cause pulsatile tinnitus. But I think my balance would be more affected.
And probably most of all to think about is........growing old! I think some of these unfortunate symptoms that we get, are just par for the course with aging. You should hear my husband and I talk at dinner........We talk constantly, but most of the conversation is "What's the name of that guy........." or "What's the name of that movie?" ........or "what day of the week is it?" ,etc., etc. hahaha I can't believe how both of us can't remember words/names any more!
