Our 12 year old dog (don't know what breed she is, as she was a stray) has started looking at the floor, her blanket, the sofa, etc., like she is seeing moving things. She doesn't have fleas and I sure never see what she's looking at. She goes at them like they are bugs. I googled this and it sounds sort of like "fly-bitting" that some dogs do. They dont' know why they do it, but the dogs snap at the air, as if they are seeing bugs. Has anyone ever had a dog that started doing this? I'll ask my vet the next time we need to take her in.

never heard of that but they get cataracts so one would assume they could get floaters, poor baby

Isn't fly biting a mild form of seizures or something like that? some breeds, like Bull Terriers, are likely to do that.

All my dogs did this when they got older. I don't know what it is.

It's like when they stare at the wall and bark at something invisible to us. We say it's the pixies.

I don't know if they do or not, but I can empathize. :(
