Hello everyone, I'm Cindi (a.k.a. Domestic_Goddess). I recently came across this forum, and after reading through various posts, I decided to join. I really am looking forward to being a member and getting to know others, and I'm sure I'll learn something new. Even at my age! Anyhoo, here's my introduction.
Both my husband and I are 60, and in a few months we'll be married 39 years. My husband and I have 3 daughters, and 1 granddaughter who I absolutely adore! Our family resides in Wisconsin, and we couldn't imagine living anywhere else, well... maybe except for our youngest daughter, who'd much rather live in a much more warmer climate, but not me, I love it here!
While my husband was raised on a farm, I grew up in the city, until I was 13, which our family then moved to the country. I really dreaded the country life, until I met and married my husband, now I couldn't imagine living in the city. I really 'am a "country girl" at heart! When the two of us were first married and just starting our family, we had a big garden, and I did a lot of canning. My favorite part of canning, was the variety of pickles I had made, and I was proud of myself, as no one ever taught me how to can or preserve anything. Now I no longer can pickles, relish, or even tomato juice, and I must say, I do miss it. Now-a-days, I mainly make a variety of rhubarb jams, which I enjoy making and sharing with others.
Hubby and I still live a pretty simple life, as does our middle daughter Jen and her husband. Both of them live just a few miles from us, so we tend to do a lot together. During the Summer, my husband and I have a couple raised vegetable gardens, but our daughter Jen has a much bigger garden, which she does share some her vegetables with us and her sisters. Jen also raise's chickens, as well as a few pigs, which we also butcher, and cut and wrap the meat ourselves. We also make our own pork sausage, plus Jen and her father has carried on the family tradition of making blood sausage, as well as liver sausage. Jen and her husband also enjoy making their own wines. You wouldn't believe the concoctions they come up with!
During the cold winter months, between 2 of our daughters and us, we all burn wood. Cost-wise it's cheaper to heat the house, but how I dread wood-heat. It's much too warm for me. I think I drive my hubby crazy when he sees me crack open a kitchen window, or the patio door when it's still Winter. Speaking of Winter, it as well as the Autumn season, are my 2 favorite seasons of the year. How much I enjoy preparing home-cooked soups during this time of the year. There's nothing like a good bowl of hot soup to warm you up when it's cold outside. And to serve it with some sort of baked goods.
Well, it certainly looks like I posted plenty in my introduction. I usually don't post this much when I join a forum. Guess I just got carried away! :|(
For those who decided to read my introduction, I'd like to say... :thankyou: and have a nice day!
Now I'm looking forward to reading what others are posting in this forum! ;)
