I'm confused why all the candidates that have dropped out of the primary race, are still on the ballot?
The woman told me that if they've registered (if that's the right term), they remain on the ballot. Isn't that kind of stupid?

How long does it take to print the ballots and distribute them to the various precincts? Also, if a candidate's campaign is suspended rather than dropped, should they be removed from ballots even if there were time to do so?

Yeah, right after I posted this I started thinking about how long it must take to deal with all the various issues. I suppose if it were all electronic everywhere, they might be able to stay up to the minute.....but there's places with write in ballots, plus there are always problems with equipment not working. So.........I guess it's not so stupid after all. Thanks Alan.

In our county the municipal clerks ordered 2-5 times the normal number of primary ballots, and a few sites still ran out. Fortunately, we had also deployed new equipment that can accept xeroxed ballots. It was an unusual year.
