Wondering if anyone else is so sick until nausea about the election and the news about the candidates...most especially news about the candidate whose last name begins with "T"?

With apologies to the late Hunter S. Thompson, I'm feeling "Fear & Loathing" in politics right about now.

You??

Oh I too am sick of Mr. T (that one I mean).

I've still got some Netflix series saved up to binge, so I should be fine here in Brigadoon.

I'm really starting to view this election cycle as I would a juicy, completely over the top Mexican telenovela. It helps me to deal with how out there Election 2016 seems to me. Rob

I'm wondering, with one of the two left standing, what we look like after November and with the other choice how we can look ourselves in the mirror without disgust.

If Billary chooses Warren as veep and Warren accepts (I hope she is brighter than that) then Trump wins massively.

It is some of the most unusual politics I can remember and find it mostly entertaining. I'm pretty much unplugged from network TV and don't have cable, so maybe am missing some of the ad nausea effects.

I'm sure the media loves it. Seems like "news" right now is comprised of Trump/Hilary blah-blah, scary airplane stories (these always start up before summer vacation season) and frightening natural occurrences like bad weather and fires. We Americans apparently enjoy being fearful.

I think this election is interesting in that it appears to be the first one that makes no pretext of honoring some of what used to be thought of as foundational American values: Small, preferably local government - dismissed for big government solutions. Economic freedom - dismissed in favor of governing elites determining who we can trade with and how successful we are allowed to be. Individual liberty - dismissed in the name of "equality". Self-imposed morality (often within the framework of "traditional" Judeo-Christian values) - dismissed in favor of government imposed rules of behavior. Free speech - dismissed where it interferes with state regulation of campaign finance or the current fashion in what constitutes "hate speech". The old notion of "rights" as things government couldn't take from you - dismissed in favor of things government must give you.

This may in fact be our first post-American election. That alone should make it interesting.

Ted Cruz could have preserved most of this if he had just mixed a little more humility with a little less knowledge of God's indisputable Will. As an evangelical, it really sucks when your will and Gods will turn out to be two different things. What's wrong with being a Consitutionalist but leaving your Bible thumping at home? And of course, there is nothing wrong with being principled but I think Ted's principles had principles. Where did Rand Paul go? Is he still alive?

I think there is some possibility we could see a permanent divide in the GOP between conservatives and nationalists.

Keep Rand in the Senate. Comtribute to his campaign.

I suppose I could google it, but what is a Nationalist? I could see some serious fragmenting of the Republican party, but am not of the opinion it would spawn a strong third party, although that would be refreshing.
