View Full Version : The Return of Bill
I see Hillary is talking about bringing everyone's favorite perjuring predator into her inevitable administration as some sort of Economic Revitalization Czar. Psephologically, I'm not sure it's the best move she could have made. It seems to me that she'd be doubling down on the old baggage.
But what do I know? I thought Marco Rubio had a shot.

The Clintons make me sick.
What do you mean? That was the period of the Pax Americana. I think many of us could wax nostalgic over the Clinton Years. Because times were good, most people don't care where he was getting his own good times.

It was a great time. Too bad Bill can't run again.
I don't think his Republican lite administration was too bad, but I don't want another eight years of it. Some people don't know when to take a bow and get off the stage.

Clinton was a horrible President, however I do have to give him big ups for getting at least one Lewinski in the Oval Office that we know about. If I were Hillary and got to be President I'd find a young intern to .......hmmmm never mind.

Maybe not bad times at the time, but unlike then, by this point people see the LONG TERM consequences of Clinton policies (smoking ciggies doesn't seem so bad at the time either afterall ... until you get lung cancer). Which is kinda where the debate really is now - the long term consequences of things like trade (NAFTA/GATT) and the financial crisis (financial deregulation - not that the regulations were sufficient even then) etc.. So even though we may get Clinton 2.0 whether or not we want it, you can't step in the same swamp twice.
I think one of our sillier political superstitions is our belief that the President somehow runs the economy. At best, the office is partly coach, partly cheerleader.

Largely yes. The real game started on 12/7/1941.

I would argue that 12/7/1941 was already half time. The game started 12/23/1913. And is now in overtime.

In Bill's case, he gets credit for going along, but not without a struggle.

The Clintons make me sick.I don't entirely disagree with you though two things come to mind. The first is that I miss that wonderful economy we had many of the Clinton years. The second is that as I've said before, Hillary will not antagonize Mexico, thereby giving Americans access to affordable medical and dental and the human rights/human dignity this access affords. But I care for them as people less and less as time goes on. But I will of course vote for continued access to Mexican medical and dental through Hillary regardless. Definitely a vote for the lesser of the evils on offer, though. Rob

in my more paranoid moments I think so. Sleight of hand and all that. Because you don't really see how bad the fundamentals of an economy are unless you are in a recession. Although there have been bad times when the fundamentals were strong (1929 maybe). But the fact that people were employed in a lot of boom industries during the Clinton and Bush eras made times seem more prosperous than they really were (although at least in the Clinton era it was dot coms, later during Bush it was vastly more ridiculous things like housing bubbles)

It's hard to think of any provocation that would cause Mexico to give up the revenue from the medical tourism trade.

I just heard of Milo recently. But he is apparently supposed to be the new voice of the intellectual right, or some such.
After hearing of him, I read up on him a little bit and watched some of his speeches that he gave at colleges and in the media.
He is rather controversial.

Anyone to the right of Trotsky showing his face on a college campus is likely to be "controversial" in today's environment.
It doesn't take much for the fiercely fragile social justice warriors to tearfully demand that the nearest authority figure make the bad man go away.

Do you cross at designated border crossings now, Rob, or do you cross the border elsewhere?
Is Trump proposing to close existing border crossings, or keep US citizens from crossing the border?
I cross the border all the time now, usually in my boat, and I have to report to a designated reporting location in both directions, or it's like a $15,000 fine and/or they can just take my boat.

In response to Hillary's hit pieces against Trump on his treatment of women, Donald has been incredulous that the wife of a serial womanizer could accuse him after enabling the ruining of so many women's lives and careers. He has publicly called both Hill and Bill out on their obvious hypocracy. So far, Bill has stayed mum. But it is getting to him. Just a matter of time and Donald will strike a nerve prompting Bill to have a fit and show his real colors. Just a matter of time.
Im sure the trouble with Sanders she is having is making her a bit edgy also. The Democrats are having a bit of anger and frustration of their own boil up at an inopertune time. All while Trump basks in the glory of his victories and prepares for a one on one with the presumptive democratic victor. Or is She?

I cross the border all the time now, usually in my boat, and I have to report to a designated reporting location in both directions, or it's like a $15,000 fine and/or they can just take my boat.I cross to and from at the designated crossings, Bae. My worry.....and the worry of many people in the 85006, is this. If Trump gets in and really does agitate for a wall, Mexico is a soveirgn (sp?) nation. It is not required to permit any American fleeing American health care/dental care across the border. Mexico could in theory block us from entering and cut off this lifeline to so many Americans forced across the border by America should they wish to access affordable medical and dental.
A vote for Trump is a vote for potentially blocking access to Mexican medical and dental. I believe in basic human rights and basic human dignity and therefore can not and will not vote for Trump.....he's a risk to accessing affordable medical and dental in Mexico. This risk is just not acceptable, period. Rob
PS.....I came back to add that a cousin of my husband's from Monterrey just paid a visit and brought us a pinata done up to look like Trump. Apparently they are selling well in Mexico and after Trump's recent comments about Mexico, people love to hang these up and bash them.
I think there are many good reasons to vote against Trump, but I have to say the probability of Mexico refusing cash from Americans seems too tiny to me to consider.

I think there are many good reasons to vote against Trump, but I have to say the probr thamability of Mexico refusing cash from Americans seems too tiny to me to consider. There are many good reasons to vote against Trump....that I will agree with you on. OTOH, if you've ever been forced by America to flee the border for health care as I have, this issue becomes larger than life itself. Basically I view all candidates through a screen of basic human rights. In this case, will a candidate put my offshoring medical and dental at risk? Trump fails miserably here.
It's really a sad commentary on what America has become that a candidate should be screened based on the criteria of whether they put my (and many others) basic human rights at risk by potentially antagonizing a country with affordable medical and dental such as Mexico.....potentially closing the border to Americans for such. This is America though as it is for many and I've never been one to flinch or turn away from this.
At least Hillary does not put access to health care at risk for so many.....she will keep open our basic human right to offshore. And as more and more doctors won't accept ObamaCare and as premiums and copays and deductibles continue to rise, it is crucial to what's left of the middle class that their right to affordable medical and dental in Mexico is not put at risk, either. Rob

Donald had better be careful on this one. If Hillary's spouse is fair game, then his (all of them) are. And his treatment of his (all of them) is. His wife is a soft porn star. There are plenty of nude pictures of her all over the internet and they aren't private. They were in a magazine actually i think. And Donald shopped for new wives while inconveniently still married to the previous. He loses that argument and should take another tack before he embarrasses himself and all his wives.
Bill never posed naked. he only got a BJ in the oval office. From a consenting adult who bragged about it. If that makes him a predator then just about every man out there needs to look over their shoulder.
He was a good president, despite some refusing to give him props. Funny how the economy does better under these 'ineffective' democratic Presidents than under republicans. Regardless of the congressional make-up.

I just took a look at the economy over the last 75 years And I came to the conclusion that comparing the GDP or available collected taxes.....both parties have contributed to our terminal national debt. The Fed.....oh god that monetary policy making monster of private country clubbers, has driven down interest rates to spark real interest in the economy.....all the way to zero. Now they sit, frozen about to embark on a journey to the twilight zone where nothing works the way it is supposed to. Negative interest rates. Where the bank charges you to hold your money. Where your neighbor quits going to work because well, the bank is making money disappear. Where you find bags of money on your doorstep in the morning because it costs too much to even keep it. Where everybody just sits around disinterested in anything and grows heirloom vegetables year to year.
As far as Trumps relationship indiscretions....people should save their time. Nobody cares. Most are like me, I don't like him but I don't like the Clintons more. And Rand Paul disappeared into outer space.
