I'm a little surprised this hasn't been getting more attention in the US outside the business press. It strikes me as having the potential to be more important than who the next president will be. Maybe David Cameron should have been a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.

I heard this word for the first time at work today. Have not seen it referenced in any news.

When you consider the chain of events it could start, I would have thought there would be more general interest in it.

Maybe Americans really are as parochial as the critics claim.

Do tell.

Off the top of my head, should the UK pull out, Scotland (which seems to me to have a much more EU-friendly political culture) might be more inclined to leave the UK. Removal of the "Anglo-Saxon capitalist culture" influences from the EU could lead to an acceleration of the centralizing tendencies of the French and German players on any number of fronts. The UK would have to renegotiate any number of trade agreements as an independent participant. The City of London might be hard put to maintain it's dominant position in world finance. The UK could possibly find itself drawing closer to Commonwealth or other anglophone countries. Migration patterns would almost certainly be impacted. Other EU members might be tempted to strike out on their own for reasons of their own should a UK exit appear successful. The collective EU GDP would decline by a significant amount. I'm sure there would be plenty of other consequences the experts can't predict, much less my humble self.

The EU will prove to be much like a muskrat trap. A hell of a lot easier getting into, than getting out of.

If we are foolish enough to accept either the Trump or Sanders version of that both America and the world will be poorer for it.
