Yes, she is very experienced in having mentors so she knew what to ask and talk about and do. And she put my fears to rest about the appropriateness of this because she had mentors on our district. It felt so good to tell someone in our work 'this is what I am trying to do', and have that kinda validated. Plus since she knows all the people here she shared that my issue may not be as much quality of communication as issues on the other side of power and control, which means I can do something different to work with it.
