"Right to die"
Suicide has always been legal, so has death. (if not there are a lot of plots that need digging up)
Attempted suicide (failure), and assisted suicide have been illegal.

Something about this troubles me when I am healthy and none of my loved ones is suffering from terminal illness. Not so much concerned when I am in insufferable pain. The oft read obituary that states , he/she fought bravely and lost their battle against (insert ailment) Can now be he/she chose to die with dignity by euthanizing self. I also wonder if the current technology for taking death cocktails by the terminally ill is better than the lethal injection meds that occasionally fail to provide the quick quiet death society needs to assuage their guilt for cruel and unusual punishment.

I have always thought that maybe the heroin and such acquired in drug busts could be re-purposed for doctor assisted suicide...

It depends on whether you want it to be pretty (you know, something you can be proud of)or just effective (lots of writhing and foaming at the mouth kind of side effects).
