Until my annual review is over with. They really, really hyped up the deadlines and kept saying 'remember your review' when we struggled to get things done, or 'put that on your self review' if it was anything good. It seems every time I started to put it in perspective some supervisor cheerleader type would start talking about it again.

Plus last year was so terrible that I am just nervous. Certainly not going to cheer. I have some idea I did better, but the system is set up weird so unless my great work falls under a category it won't get counted. They changed the entire f-ing system mid-year too! I don't trust my supervisors to notice my work and value it, I don't think my review last year was fair and accurate (I may still have earned a low score but the reasons were really off), I am exhausted this year trying to get a score that at least puts me in the range to get a raise.

Spent so long re-writing this post it is now 3 hours, 45 minutes.

Thank you Razz, She rated me higher than I rated myself. I got teary (I am emotional like that, but we don't work in accounting after all). On a scale of 1-5 I got a solid 4. I rated myself 3 overall, partially because I didn't trust my supervisors to rate me higher than that. She said she noticed my hard work, and in fact all the supervisors did this year. They get together as a team and 'norm' all of us, she said something like I am a shining example among the PS's (about 40 of us).

Still kinda emotional, I feel like the weight of the last couple years is lifting finally. It has been a long 6 years with few positives. I have never had a 4 on anything in the 6 years and feel like I have worked really hard. Not without mistakes of course.

Now my job is to let go of the previous years a little, and not tear up during camp. Also I am totally getting take out Asian food tonight!!

Congratulations, Zoe Girl! It's wonderful that your hard work, courage, and persistence paid off--and that your supervisors noticed it, too. Enjoy the takeout! :)

YAY! So happy for you. I still remember when I had my first review with my new boss/new job, after leaving a really abusive place. I thought I was doing pretty well, but scored myself modestly because I just didn't know. And then my boss gave me high 4s for almost everything, 5s for some, and told me in the discussion that it pretty much would have been 5s across the board except he needed to leave room for future improvement. He was an awesome boss. So glad that you seem to have turned a real corner in your interactions with yours.

Enjoy the summer and I hope you get that raise!

I am working on it! I see my mentor tomorrow so that will be good, I need a reality check that I am not a drastically different person from last year, there were a lot of factors going on.

My son and girlfriend have been at her house the last few days for dog-sitting and it is kinda lonely. I am going to see if they can come for dinner so I have someone to share with.

okay I am home, had a nap and actually read over my review. I recall the part where I teared up, when she said I have empathy. I shared in my monthly report that a staff said how much she trusted me and that was included. I got my monthly report done every month and on time, I have heard from others they struggled and only did it partially and one person was written up for not doing it. I think my job coach was really helpful in getting me to put more things in it. One thing I have been learning as an introvert is how to share what I have been doing more effectively. The monthly report is a beast, a shared google doc that my supervisors can all look at any time. By the end of the year it was 24 pages (lots of fill in places and not that I wrote 24 pages). I have been trained well to get massive paperwork documentation done with grants, some of the non-grants staff really were not used to that. My personal goal was creative collaborations, and my plans for things like family nights was 5 more than my goal. The head of our department actually contacted our partners (I worked with a soccer grant program, Girls on the Run, City Year which is a part of Americorps and more). and got great praise from City Year.

You know when you hear the same things year after year and you get the feeling no one is really looking at your work? Well I did not hear that I am a hard worker or that I am too nice.

And Pad Thai was very tasty, enough for 2 meals.

Okay one more thing if I am not boring you to death, this determines my raise and I should have a pretty nice one in September. Whew, with another thing being paid in the next month or 2 I should be able to actually pay on the student loans finally.
