Will be Theresa May. Her opponent has withdrawn.

What does a Home Secretary do, exactly?

Wishing her unlimited wisdom, patience, infinite sensitivity as she works GB through the mess it is now in. The repercussions for relations with NATO, international trade, the standing in the UN etc are mind-boggling as the way forward is fresh and new. They cannot go back to the past.

Who said we want to go back?

That's a lot. It sounds like the equivalent of 4-5 US Cabinet positions.

Different ways of interpreting the same info create miscommunication.

I simply meant that past history cannot serve to guide the way forward creating new challenges for any leader reinforcing the statement I made immediately before of wishing her well.

I see the FTSE is doing quite well at the moment. Either the markets are liking what they're hearing or they've decided the world may not be ending after all.

Yes, the GBP has 'surged', according to a couple of newspaper reports. Of course, a 'surge' isn't quantified!

I liked Cameron's closing words (Something he used to say about Tony Blair): "I was the future once."

I think the House of Commons was kind to him during PMQT!

And Boris is taken into the fold. Nothing for Gove, so far...

Michael Gove and two others sacked. George Osborne sacked from his post of Chancellor of the Exchequer yesterday evening...

I see the ever-tactful Boris Johnson is Foreign Secretary. The papers here are publishing lists of the various powers and personages he has insulted over the years.

I have to admire the poetry of British political insult. Here, we have to make do with the bar stool bombast of Trump, the sneering condescension of Obama, the Nixonian paranoia of Clinton and the fossilized sixties rhetoric of Sanders.

Yes, we are blessed......!

Isabel, I am puzzled somewhat. For some reason, I have the impression that Scotland sees itself as unique and apart from European in thought. What makes Scotland appear more inclined toward Europe than England?
There is something that I am not understanding. Can you help me with this please?

Self-interest, methinks.

Scotland has areas of deprivation which attracts EU special funding, lots of unemployment, so common travel areas attract some to work in EU countries.

The SNP is a party in the mould of 'old' labour, nationalisation of industries etc.

I know it is more complex than the simplistic thoughts here....
