While in the Chicago suburbs we ate for the first time at PF Chang's. I had heard that it was "high end chain food" and wow! It did not disappoint! I was surprised at how good it was.

first of all, the wine was the best I had had for a week. It was a Columbia Valley (Washington) cabernet, and it was $8 a glass, not bad for Chicago/good wine.

I had a beef schizan dish, very good!

so, all chains are not bad. Note to self.

A few years ago at the same conference held this time in Iowa, we ate at the Macaroni Grill which had some quite decent dishes, also a "high end chain." Unfortunately, they are out of business.

We love PF Changs. Try the chicken wraps and Mongolian beef.

Are the PF Chang's frozen products that have started showing up in our grocery store any good?

Yes, we do a grape exchange with several wineries on that side of the state - our whites for their reds, allowing each of us to offer both colors :-)

I really like P.F. Chang's, but I haven't been to it in quite a while--probably years. When it first opened on Rt. 1 on the other side of Princeton, we went a few times, but then the novelty wore off and we returned to the family restaurants we were used to. Really nice selection of entrees, though.

We used to frequent Pei Wei which is PF Chang's budget chain...until we saw how high the sodium content was. Maybe that's why they both taste good though. Used to love the Orange Chicken.

All our Macaroni Grills have closed, too. Never got to one. Nearest one to us now, apparently, is in Chicago. Not happening... :-)

I've been to PF Chang's a couple of times with other people. But there is so much good Asian food here there is no real reason to go to a chain. But not everyone is that lucky.

When we were visiting Boston last fall we had all the city's restaurants to choose from but we went around the corner to PF Changs. We had such a superb dinner that we ended up going there the next night and ordering the same thing because we had thought about it all day. I'm in love with their lettuce wraps as well as the dessert that DH dubbed the Perfect Pillows of Pleasure.
