View Full Version : How many here just don't have much faith in either US candidate?

Count me in the camp nor having much faith with either candidate. I will vote for Hillary for reasons I've already stated but there will be no joy in it for me. I find it very depressing the only reason I can justify voting for her is to continue accessing much lower costs in a neighboring country....I don't believe she can (or anyone else for that matter) fix much if anything on this side of the border. And Trump I have no faith in period. Not an inspiring election cycle this time around for me. Rob
I'm going with a 3rd party candidate, Gary Johnson. I would like to see sometime in my lifetime that other options besides Democrat or Republican be viable options. I'd like to see other candidates be invited to the table, included in debates and the like. I realize at this point I'm just spitting into the wind as the establishment doesn't want to see viable options outside the ones they've decided on. I'd also love to see that people don't just default to the 2 choices presented.
While I don't see much impact to Mexican medical tourism under either candidate, this is the first year I've seriously considered voting third party (at least at the top of the ballot).
Mr. Trump appears to be a dangerously stupid fellow who seems to have made it his mission in life to confirm the most perfervid fantasies of the hysterical left. As a small-government conservative, I abhor his Statist policy views. As a Republican, I lament the damage he is causing one of the greatest forces for liberty in our county's history. As a veteran, I despise his view of the American military as compliant thugs. As an anglophone, I find his rhetoric painfully crude even for our degraded age.
Mrs. Clinton is even more appalling. She epitomizes much of what Democrats claim to be against, growing rich in the service of the wealthy. An entitled political aristocrat who inveighs against inequality in designer outfits. A moral cipher who changes her very accent depending on her audience, for who she has such contempt that she doesn't even think they'll notice. Someone so estranged from the truth that she feels comfortable lying in public about being shot at or where her grandparents were born.

I've been a democrat for about 20 years. Today I officially changed my affiliation to Green Party.

I saw the Green Party chracterized as the "Watermelon Party" because they are green on the outside but red on the inside. Haha, beware young liberals.:~)
I remember taking one of those "which party are you?" quizzes and one time I came out Green Party.
The Greens are seriously nutso and fringe in local politics, as have been many of the Libertarian candidates. :(:( At the national level I thnk they have some credibility.
I recently looked at the Green platform and I think that the verbiage about taxation scares off a lot of libs, hence the Watermelon label.

Very accurate.
The only positive thing each candidate can say is that they are not the other candidate.
I was hoping for Sanders, it would have been the first time I voted for someone instead of against someone.

You say this as if there are only two candidates...

There are only 2 candidates that have any chance and I will vote for Hillary. If you vote 3rd party then there is no point in voting. Now let the lunatics start ranting:~).

If we only vote for one of two candidates, there will always be the choice of only two candidates.
time for a change, and the Republicans get to see my wrath at their stupidity by the lack of my vote.

I see it the same way. If you take a longer view, a third party vote can serve to indicate your displeasure to the major parties (both in the leadership and the rank and file) which could result in later positive change.

I am very disappointed that The Bern is now supporting Billary. And this is why I will write in The Bern! lol

From what I've read, only about 15-20% of Bernie's supporters will refuse to endorse his endorsement.

I think it will be less than that.

I think Trump is way too dangerous to even consider voting for a 3rd party candidate.

A Trump administration would feel like watching my house burn down.
A Clinton administration would be more like black mold.
I'm not sure which would be worse.

I don't think 3rd parties have that much of a chance in a winner take all system where they are also explicitly discriminated against. And voting for someone awful (and both of those two are, and I'm not at all sure Trump isn't preferable of the two) is also a waste of time.
So yea I basically agree voting that far up the ticket IS indeed a waste of time as far as accomplishing much. But people vote to register protest. Which seems ok to me.
If our votes don't seem to REALLY matter anyway as far as changing anything we might as well use them like an opinion poll and register discontent.

From NBC News, November 7, 2013. allergist David Stukus, MD:
Myth 3: Black mold can cause some truly terrifying diseases.
Google “black mold” and you’ll find websites linking it to some frightening maladies – things like seizures, fibromyalgia, bipolar disorder, cancer.
“This has been attributed to cause all kinds of ailments,” Stukus says. “But there is absolutely no scientific link of a causal disorder to black mold to any of these disorders.”
But the most black mold can do to you is cause allergic rhinitis and asthma symptoms — if, that is, you're allergic to mold in the first place.
There's your answer! :D

At least you would still have your house and it could possibly be fixed.
another vote for black mold here. Since about half the Supreme Court is ready to retire soon, it's possible a Trump presidency could see him nominating extremely right wing attorneys ti fill all those vacancies. So the disaster of an egomaniacal A-hole president would last not just for 4 years, but maybe 20 or 30 years...the gift that keeps on giving. Yeah, I'm disgusted with Hillary, too...it's a damn shame that possibly our first woman president is such a pitiful example of the classic wheeler-dealer politician. But I truly believe Trump could take us right over the edge, and his presidency would do so much harm to so many people that I can't afford to stand on high ground and cast a "protest vote."

i think they both will do enough harm that noone can afford to vote for either of them. My problems with Hillary really aren't just that she's corrupt,. Sure but mostly it's that she has horrible positions (of course maybe she takes those positions because she's paid off, oh who knows where one ends and the other begins). Just look at Hillary's delegates behaviors on a meaningless platform, pro TPP, pro fracking etc.. Horrible. I think trade agreements that outsource jobs and sovereignty and further install corporate rule are already taking us right over the edge (although that might be Obama's job not Hillary's - say how is that lesser evil working out for you?). Even Trump opposes those trade agreements, although I don't trust him as far as I can spit. The lesser evil is the CAUSE of the "greater evil" - because we can't get good policies, people like Trump are attractive to many voters. It's just Trump this time, a reality show fascist, not really a fascist but he plays one on t.v. and attracts unsavory characters if things keep getting worse, it might be worse next time.
