I want to start this month's thread with this: we purged a house today! we sold off one of our tiny houses. I sfopped gardening there a few years ago because DH hated that house, and refused to work on it, so it was going downhill gast! we sold it to the next door neighbor. Lost money. It's ok! That part anyway, but oh I loved the potential of that little house. :( It is a tiny Victorian cottage on a nice street.
next month I am going to purge another house, our falling-apart greenhouse in our yard, and will report back here when that is done.

I bet its restoration will be divine. Congratulations!

Good for you for freeing the house to reach its potential! My mom and my uncle are purging a house (closing is in September)
my my donation box is full! I posted about it on the elephant thread - but to recap, I ordered a doll for my collection and I made space for it, and then I faced the fact that that wasn't progress, it was at best treading water. So I put the outter shipping carton (2 cubic feet - the inner doll box was 18"x7"x4.5") on the floor and vowed to fill it with donations before I bid on another doll.
It was harder than I thought it would be, but the box is full - it won't close. As a side effect, I also have a small bag of recycling and an extra garbage can to take up to the curb, so I'd say I'm doing pretty well so far this month.

IL: I hope the new owners restore the cottage to it's original splendor. I love it when old homes get fixed up. CL: It might be time to decide that all your collections are complete otherwise you will never be ahead of the game. Personally I don't want to leave a lot of stuff for my kids to deal with when I am gone. I have cleared a few homes that were packed and it is not fun. Thankfully, my Mom got rid of much of her own stuff and I am following her lead.
Congrats, Iris Lilies, on the house purge!
Well, after spending most of the summer away, I'm home and eager to focus on making my home a nicer place to be.
I took 9 things to Goodwill and gave another 4 hand-me-downs of my daughter's to a friend. Total for month: 13.
