I just can not believe, after all this time, that I am still learning new frugal tips. We are all at different levels and learn different things at different stages. The most recent tip I have learned, and will put into practice, I know most of you here probably already knew about this one but I just now found this out, thanks to an employee who volunteered the information. Just found out that CVS (don't know if any other stores do this also) actually accept a coupon that is a day or two expired. I think it all depends on the register, and who is manning it. Apparently they get reimbursed for it anyway. I have never even tried to use an expired coupon, and always just automatically threw them out if a day late. A bummer sometimes if a new sale is on but the coupon expired the day before.
I have some really lovely queen-sized sheets. I just found out how to adjust to make them fit my double bed which needs deep pockets.
I had a revelation today. Not really something I learned but something that just occurred to me. In my laundry room are shelves. they are pretty handy but a real pain to use cause they are the wire kind like you find in closets. Things tip over on them or slip into the wire spaces. I've been fussing about these shelves for some time but I didn't want to replace them or put wood planks on them. Then today I was cleaning out a closet and came upon a roll of shelf liner. Not the kind with holes but a solid thick sheet. Ding! I just cut to fit the shelves and now I can stand anything on them, large or small. simple, cheap, easy.
We needed a very cool bedspread, since we live in Las Vegas and it's the height of summer. Our bed is queen sized, so I suggested we get a nice, dense, king size cotton sheet to use instead. It works perfectly, looks lovely and cool, and was a fraction of the cost!
Also, I learned the hard way to brush my hair thoroughly before washing it...it keeps the drain from getting clogged up!
A king sized comforter will work on a queen sized bed if you turn it the opposite way, so this wouldn't work for somepatterns. This gives you enough fabric to cover the pillow like you do with bedspreads. THis has made it easier to find garage sale, thrift store and end of season mark downs that don't have pillow shams available. I just have. Neutral bed skirt.

The day you stop learning, is typically the last day of your life.:+1:

put a dryer sheet in a mucked up pan and fill with hot water, soak overnight, dish will be easy to clean in the am
use several layers of dryer sheets to sharpen scissors just by cutting through them

Must pass this tip along to Son#1 who has long hair and rarely combs or brushes it. I've cleaned out his tub drain twice this year.

Part 2 I've done, Part 1 is new to me...thanks. I do keep a dryer sheet in the car. I know they are toted as bad for us (cancer causing) bad for environment but I do use them when I have them.
Love corn on the cob but not the buttery mess and waste of butter. I had a brainwave today. I used my small silicone pastry brush and applied a little butter to it and used it to butter the cob before I sprinkled it with parmesan cheese. Add a few fresh cherry tomatoes and a large chunk of fresh watermelon making a perfect supper for a 94F or 34.6C day.
I have a small stack of old-style window screens in my garage. I had bought them when a local hardware store was going out of biz and thought I'd use them for drying herbs. I do, but not that many! (I over-bought in my zeal!)
I saw someone's suggestion (that they had done successfully)to tape them together with gorilla or duct tape and use them over your garden beds to keep moths and pests out. After they're pollinated, I'm guessing.
