Whew, I knew it was close but my chapter 13 bankruptcy needs one payoff and I am done. For background I had a foreclosure 6 years ago, I worked out a payment for the 2nd mortgage based on my fairly low income at the time. However my ex-husband was still on the loan, no one would refinance me with child support and alimony as my largest income no matter how much I got. So in any case when it went to foreclosure I couldn't do anything about him being on the loan and he said he would sue me for the 2nd, so I did a chapter 13 for my own protection. This is my ONLY debt besides student loans, no car loan or credit card debt. Last time I checked my credit score had already been improving even before the BK was paid off. Even if I never need credit it still helps me if I want to move in a year, it is so expensive and a tough market here in Denver.
I am feeling pretty good. I actually took a little from savings so I can pay this off before my next paycheck, and then I can set up an automatic amount of my paycheck to go to savings. However most of the savings from not paying this will just help with the increased rent.
