I mostly like the TLC channel, but they brought back this Toddler and Tiaras show that I will NOT watch. I wouldn't let my kids participate in those pageants 30 years ago because the little children wore grownup makeup, wigs and high-heeled shoes. Plus, they were being trained to walk like adults do on a street corner. Children's pageants started out as a good idea but not now IMO. Plus, every time I hear about one of these shows I think about JonBenet Ramsey and how pedophiles stalk those programs.

The other show is the kissing a stranger show which about makes me gag to see the commercials.

They advertise these shows constantly during other programs.

I mute the television and leave the room for a minute or two when these commercials are on.

that kissing a stranger one sounds horrid. I won't watch the ones about the young Amish who leave and then have all sorts of problems.

Well OP you wont like this, but I was once kinda addicted to Toddlers and
Tiaras. It was a sort of hate watch, but there were a couple of kids on the pageant circuit who were very cute. Most of them were just typical kids, though. Their hair and makeup and ridiculous poses are awful.

A convicted pedo actually worked on the T and T show and we probably should not be surprised.

They only updated one family and I think it was on before despite saying it was new.

I like the Amish show and am watching it right now- lol.

Those kids on the pageant shows are smart and cute but dressing them up like adult women who are looking for dates is wrong IMO.

I think I recall reading somewhere that these types of little girl pageants are not allowed in France. I'm sure they probably started out harmless enough, but the addition of wigs, false teeth aka "fllippers", heavy makeup, spray tan, etc. etc. is just freakish.

Not allowed? That is odd. I wouldn't want to,see the heavy hand of government outlaw them, but it would be nice if they became culturally irrelevant.

Its France. I believe they are the first to even care about fashion model's extreme thinness and young age. Wasn't England or the UK the first to ban ear cropping in dogs? Sometimes the "heavy hand" of government is what people want.

My husband was disgusted by the dance moves taught to the toddlers.

I just read that they spray collagen on these little girls to keep their skin from aging.

They also give them something called "go go juice" that is a mixture of Red Bull and Mountain Dew because it is loaded with sugar and caffeine. Parents give this to the girls right before they struct down the runways. This is over the top IMO. If I gave my child that before they went to school in the morning, then it would probably be considered a form of abuse.

Plucking eyebrows
Teasing hair
Dyeing hair
Hair removal
Hypnotism sessions
Wearing high-heeled shoes
Restrictive diets
Lots of makeup

Apparently, a lot of the dresses cost $1 thousand dollars or more. Seems like giving your little girl (or boy) educational opportunities with that money is a better choice IMO.

There are even newborn pageants for week old infants!
