Okay it is for my daughter and it is just family and I am still nervous. I want to do something more fun than have some food, open presents, eat some cake. So I am on pinterest in overload. They love star wars so I think some food could be cute-named after Star Wars things. Or maybe it is cuter to have yellow duckies. I looked at baby girl shower things and I hated them. Too much stuff about princesses and the pink was over the top so I am thinking more gender neutral, it is more my daughter's style than the princessy things. I like the idea of a theme but then my brain kinda shuts down.

I think I need to chill, plan on decorating the apartment cute, maybe doing a thing where people can fill out a card with a guess of size, birthdate, length of labor, etc. and would win a prize for the most correct (to be sent later of course). My daughter really likes decorations and things with real wrapping paper since I spent their childhood wrapping everything in comics and recycled materials. Then do a game of some kind, not too dorky but fun. We all like to play games like Uno and Life.

Oh dear, mostly I don't have anyone to talk this over and plan with even though my mom and sister are bringing food.

Why don't you do a Star Wars theme?

I attended the shower for a friend's daughter a few months ago. She and her husband are huge sports fans. The party room was decorated with baby sized sport outfits hung with clothespins from string on the wall. Food was like you would have at a Super Bowl party - pizza, good dips and chips, fruit kebabs, cake, pretzels, etc. Most relaxed baby shower I've ever attended and I loved it.

I see nothing wrong with cake, presents and talk!

That sounds very nice. You can also do a theme--like diapers or books or something, where you request presents around one theme. Or if she wants something really expensive, like a jogging stroller, have a chip in kind of shower, where everyone chips in to buy that one thing.
Another nice thing I have seen is a frozen dinner shower--everyone brings a frozen meal to heat up after the baby comes.

I think I would have liked the frozen dinner/chip in shower, with a cake and punch!

But I'm practical!

I think I am doing a mild Star Wars theme, my daughter saw what I put on pinterest and was very excited. I only found baby socks but I have the whole week to find other things. I know that dipping pretzel sticks in colored chocolate and calling them light sabers is a must. Also mini cinnamon buns for Leia buns is super easy. I am going to the party store sometime this week, and need to figure out someone who can do the cake. i checked with Target and they don't have Star Wars cakes.

I did get the Goodnight Moon book and am going to have people sign the inside cover as a shower book. It is only close family so it should be small.

Sounds like fun and delightful reason to get together.
