They say whoever wins Ohio wins the presidency. Trump has a 5 point lead here in the heart of it all!

You need to look at the states each is projected to win and how many electoral votes each state has. It shows Clinton winning by a lot.

I watch the electoral map at FiveThirtyEight, who has a fairly good record.

Currently, they're saying the nation is more likely to disgrace itself by electing Clinton than to humiliate itself by electing Trump.

They also show Ohio narrowly leaning to Trump. I can't remember any GOP candidate who has won without Ohio.

Of the 34 senate seats up for grabs, 24 are held by the GOP. It would only take 4 or 5 turnovers for the Dems gain senate control. That could be about as big as the presidential election.

Will UL and Alan cancel each other out with their votes? Which way will the wind blow?

Turning seats at all levels is what Sanders has been pushing for all along - unfortunately the media has ghosted him again.

In a typical election "they" are probably right. But this is certainly anything but a typical election.

I was also listening to a podcast (freakanomics I think?) where they interviewed a political polling guy who said that the county with Terre Haute Indiana, even though not demographically representative of the US population, has for many presidential election cycles pretty much nailed it as far as breakdown of the popular vote. His interviews of people there earlier this year indicated that Bernie was the most popular choice. But since Bernie didn't win the primary he wasn't sure what to expect in November.

I don't plan to vote.

But... I might vote for Sanders. This would just be out of spite though, since he endorsed Clinton. And this would allow me to vote but not vote for Clinton or Trump.

That way I could appease all the jokers who insist that I vote. haha

What about all the other offices?

Good question.

I basically feel like the whole place is going to heck in a handbasket. So I just disengage as much as possible. Apocalyptic, I know. haha

Remember there are other candidates too. If I were entitled to vote I'd be tempted to go for Jill Stein.

It's really not all that bad. It's been worse even in my lifetime. Fortunately our system is designed to deal with a certain amount of incompetence and mendacity.
