I am taking a course in Public Relations on-line. I have a blog which I enjoy. I built and designed it myself using wordpress.com

I have a sideline in Reiki for Horses as well. I thought, instead of just studying PR, why can't I take this learning and apply it to myself. If I have a skill to offer to the public, I would guess build a decent website so people can find you.

I'll think this through better and come up with an action plan PR style. However, can I build my own website? Link it to my blog? I have internet access at home and basic user skills. I have an image in mind for my logo but not sure how to develop that either.

The question is, can I build my own webpage and get it activated? How do I do that?

Sure you can.

Secure a domain name.
Determine where it will be hosted, on a commercial site or even on a computer in your home.
Determine the functionality desired in your site, will it be a static page or have dynamic content?
If it's a static page, use a word processor or other tool to create the page(s) and upload to the host.
If it's a dynamic page, determine which scripting agent or website package best suits your needs. Does it require a database? Which database is compatible with the package you install?

Once you have a feel for those questions, you can start working on the details.

I had a really good website through weebly. So easy. At the time buying a domain name through them was pretty inexpensive too. Just building a website doesn't build traffic, that is where your PR skills come in and anymore building social media is the key - also build a facebook page for it, instragram, twitter, etc.

Do you mean "marketing" rather than PR?
