I took my routine lunch hour walk around and said out loud I need to win the lottery tonight so I can quit having to work. I asked for $1M+. Well, a few minutes later I found $2 on the side walk.

Did the gods hear me? Are they testing me? Should I buy that lotto ticket tonight? What's the best use of this windfall?

;)

I love that video more than I can say. I swear he's wearing a sweater I donated years ago in a couple of scenes...

ETA: I'd buy a ticket or two.

Being a non-gambler, I would invest that $2 towards something that will give you long-term joy and/or satisfaction. Find a couple more bills and buy one stock and then add to it slowly along with dividend re-investment. Just get started...

I would buy a $1 lottery ticket and save the other dollar. I'm not much of a gambler, but given the circumstances, why not?

I think the most fun thing would be to parlay it into 100s then 1000s in the following way:

Use the $2 to make four 50 cent meals (See the 50 cent meal thread for ideas). Substitute those 4 meals for 2 you would have eaten out and 2 you would have eaten at home.

Now lets suppose your four meals would have cost:

2.79
6.83
3.17
15.28 for a total of 28.07

You have saved 26.07

Put 26.07 in a savings account.
Use the remaining $2 to make four 50 cent meals the next week.

In a year you will have 1355.64 plus interest in the savings account.

Or as an alternative for the first four weeks, put half into savings each week and half into a gambling account. After the first four weeks put all the savings each week into the saving account. Each week buy one lottery ticket with the gambling account. If you win anything with the gambling account, put it into the gambling account. At the end of the year you will have 1300 plus interest in the savings account. In the gambling account you could have 0 or you could have more.

Once you have 1000 in the savings account, see if there is an account or CD that pays better interest and take advantage of that to make your savings go faster.

Tip the guy that takes the grocery carts back in the store. Or something like that. Pass it on!

Retailers that I have worked for in the past fired employees for accepting tips. Security had cameras inside and outside the building to watch these things too.

You can probably tip waitstaff though.
