I am putting myself on a television diet to reduce the amount of time it is on. I rarely just sit and watch anyway. I am always multitasking. Anyway, it kind of sucks you in at times and it is a waste of electricity. I am going to try to NOT turn it on before 7 or 8 at night. I am going to try to find nights NOT to watch it at all. I won't be giving up some shows though. (Cable is part of my rent and there are some things that I still want to watch. ) I need to do some other things to stay busy instead.

Hey Sandy, I don't watch TV at all, but I think it's probably time to put myself on an internet diet again. The internet can be a similar time suck.

I think your urge to do other things have to outweigh the need to vegetate in front of the tv due to boredom. I finally have had enough and Im journalling, throwing things out donating sorting. Ulitmately I would like to be creating and painting but I havent gotten there yet.... good luck its really worth it.

If you have been using the tv as background noise, consider using the radio/cd's and music as background while you clean, etc.

I have been able to cut back by putting some music on in the background, journal alot . Its winter in the midwest , go figure.

I mailed off the Nielsen diary today and it didn't have much listed.

Of course there was no The Walking Dead marathon on - lol.

I've been keeping the tv off to conserve electricity since my heating bill was high because of the cold weather.

I love to read but I can't do much because it gives me a headache.

I do wear glasses so that is not the issue.

I'll check to see what's on for the night; if nothing interesting, I'll turn it off or just put the music channels on (love Light Classical). Now an internet diet, that's a tough one. One or two nights a week internet-free may be doable. It's so easy to say that I'll just go on for a short time, and google myself miles away from what I went on for.
