so here is the full story, there is new legislation about overtime pay and salary positions under a certain amount. Somehow in the wonderful way that things work it means we as a department got raises. We get raises in September and that added up to about $50 a month. So I am either going to effectively get a $2K or almost $7K raise for the year (it depends how they are figuring my health care stipend into this). In any case WOW!

It does help my struggling attitude I have had about work. I also called into open office hours to ask about some of our workload issues and my mind was put at ease. There is more front-end work load on hiring right now because it was found to be the cause of people not getting paid or paid correctly. So I feel better about the long winded hiring process if it means we NEVER have staff who do not get paid again (yes it has happened a few times).

Congratulations! For me, it is $300 gross per month, about $150 net. On the one hand that is great, on the other hand it is because a got a new project. Interesting, but a lot more work, responsability and stress.

I'd prefer some downshifting, but the the job is paid very good, and I did not find an alternative where I can make as much money. As soon as my finances are better (we will be out of debt end of the year), I will again start looking for alternatives with less work and less salary...
