I have seen some videos in the news that are just horrible. They are sobering reminders that we need to be decent to each other.

We also need to get outside our damn bubbles (whether liberal or conservative). We need to interact with each other.

Or we need to call this whole thing off and go deep on the states' rights thing so liberals can live among their own kind and do their own thing and then conservatives can too.

Violence and idiocy crosses all ideological boundaries. What is sad is when people tolerate it and let it slide because the perpetrators are waving their banners.

I went to buy hay this week. I was dreading it. My neighbor (from whom I buy the hay) had already removed all of his trump signs. For the first time in ten years he did not bring up politics. He asked about the progress on our house. When I told him we were looking for someone to do a specific job, he said someone down the road had just hired some people and they were cheap and he was "real pleased with the work. Course, they're Mexicans, so you gotta watch em, but I guess that don't mean nothin, you gotta watch everybody." Which is probably the most racially balanced thing he's ever said to me.

so, my neighbor can be gracious in victory.

I cant find a reference to the first faux crime. Maybe it exists only in my head. The Bosnian community was jumpy after one of their young men was beaten to death by hammers, wielded by three African Americans. This was determined NOT to be a hate crime. It was just awful, th young guy was quite handsome.

Maybe I'm being dense but, what does this interaction have to do with the election?

It has to do with the fact that my neighbor and I hold very different political and social beliefs and he always takes the opportunity to express his emphatically when he sees me. Therefor, one could assume that he would know I was feeling at least dissapointed in the results of the election and he chose not only to not rub his win in my face, but to actually try to speak to me in a way that took my perception of the world into account. - human decency. Even kindness.

Just to be clear, this is not recent and has nothing to do with last week's Presidential election.

My point in sharing, vague as it was, is mostly about faux victims.
