I was a huge fan of his, have all his albums, have seen him in concert several times even as recently as 2 years ago. I know there aren't many of us out there, but wondering if any of you are also fans.

I'm so glad I saw him when I did. I'd be much more sad if I never had. What a sweet man. I've had A Song for You playing in my head for two days....

Another HUGE fan. I listened obsessively to Up on a Tightwire all freshman year.

First Leonard Cohen, now Leon Russell and Gwen Ifell. This is not a good week.

He wrote many songs that I bet people didn't even realize, like "This Masquerade," and "Superstar."

Last night, our local public radio host played a tribute. With each song, my husband said, "Do you know this one?" "Surely you know this one!" Unfortunately, I didn't know any of them.

Yeah, he was an artist that appealed to some, but not the entire pop audience. He's one who I was listening to instead of disco, I guess.
