Interesting how cannily Sanders and Trump exploited the lessons of that election.

And how the mainstream party power-elite completely missed the boat.

I see Bernie Sanders already has a book out that touches on the most recent campaign.

I enjoyed Chris Rock's message to white people, cited on the first page of that old thread.

Rock is hilarious.

I just spent two hours on the plane today reading it. Quite the tome--half of it is his history in politics, and half is how to create a "revolution" to address all the issues on his platform. I'm still in the first part but fun to read about Burlington and relive some of his accomplishments.

IL, thanks for resurrecting that thread! It was fun to read.. but I wish some of those posters were still with us.

anyone have an idea why so many people left this forum? I would be curious to know.

There was a pretty good migration to MMM, for one thing.

I just read Mr. Money Mustache's 2012 summary of Joe Dominquez'Your Momey Or Your Life.

MMM gave tribute to Joe, and Vicki, as the original Mustacheans.

Its not. Its about alignng your spending with your values.

MMM hasnt come up with anything new but he has a new audience.

The largest recent outflux was primarily due to a provocateur targeting particular people and annoying most of us. We lost a ton of people with Packy.

He has also applauded the ancient Stoics for being a step in his direction. That site seems to be a bit of a personality cult to me.

I'm told he actually wrote it himself, unlike many of his peers.

Looking at old election threads gives one a sense of how little things have really changed. Bush Derangement Syndrome gives way to Post Trump Stress Disorder. Threats to flee to Canada are as empty as ever. Reagan the Ogre becomes the Reagan "who could never be elected today". Our whole decline started with FDR, Reagan, take your pick.

We certainly seem to have lost some of our more colorful posters.
