I used to donate to a couple environmental groups, but quickly became overwhelmed with more and more mailings from them. I started feeling like they were spending more on mail to me, than what I had donated.....and using paper needlessly. Have you ever donated to something like this anonymously? How do you do it? Thanks.

A cashiers check would only have a name on it. Unless you provided contact info, they should not be able to track back. Counter check without your contact info on it might also work. Talk to your bank.

Or a postal money order.

I tend to only donate locally, I include a letter with each saying I am donating once a year, do NOT send me any other mail. It works for a while, then I have to re send the letter. But it helps.

Through our local community foundation.

I do most of my donating through my employer (who matches at 50% with no upward limit). My giving outside of that is to small local groups without the budget to inundate me with mail.

I mostly only donate when I can give cash. Visit a nature preserve, give cash, etc.. So I'm not always giving money away (when I do it is sometimes quite generous), but these are a LOT of hoops that are being recommended, and I don't want to get on any more mailing lists either. You might be able to get prepaid credit/debit cards below a certain amount that are anonymous but that's another hoop.
