We all know that energy efficiency is increasingly being recognized as one of the most important and cost-effective solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Along with the benefits to the environment, successful energy efficiency projects also typically improve a company’s overall efficiency. Our boss suggested that we implement an energy management system so we could identify energy saving opportunities. What are the long term benefits of an energy management system?
What do you think they are?

Hello, I have read a lot of details on the internet. And I guess many of us are knowledgeable already and have basic ideas regarding the advantage of energy efficiency.
But the long term benefit that caught my attention is the use of energy supply management (https://www.ecova.com/solution/energy-supply-management/) which is used by Ecova. I wonder if someone tried to use this before? Any Opinions?

From the past postings, I expect there are very few posters who are in the same types of industries, and use the same software's you seem to regularly ask about.
Also, how many of us are able to choose an electric supplier? If we are in a large enough area, with enough property, then we can take the calculations of the cost benefit of solar panels. There are more individuals here, then corporations, who might better be able to answer these questions. Do you have any industry forums?
We would be able to check our own power, by doing things like unplugging all our unused electronics, using power detectors on electrical appliances, etc. but not afford some big business to come in and monitor our home usage.

My husband does this for a living with his job requiring a Professional Engineering license. He does spend his days calculating the cost/benefit analysis of various ideas. The biggest question is if it is cheaper to keep the current system or replace it with a timeline of 5 years out I think? And it needs to be a certain percentage cheaper or dollar amount cheaper if I recall correctly.
Cost savings is a huge determining factor in convincing the bosses to move forward. Any savings on AC can be utilized by the organization in another area. The cost savings he finds more than covers his salary & benefits, it helps that he works for a very large company.
It's not just AC units to investigate, is the steam system properly maintained? Fix the leaks and keeping it working at top efficiency can be more cost effective and a lower impact on the environment than a complete replacement. There are ground source heat pumps and the usual thoughts of solar and wind depending upon location.
Maybe your company needs to bring someone in to do an analysis depending upon the size of the company/bldg.
Good Luck!
