Not many of the 'celeb' deaths hit me that hard but this one has. I'm a massive star wars fan, the character Princess Leia was a big role model for me growing up but more than that Carrie Fisher herself with her honesty about her mental health condition helped me a lot when I got diagnosed.

And now the politically correct take over.
Steve Martin tweeted "When I was a young man, Carrie Fisher was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. She turned out to be witty and bright as well."
And he has been attacked for it, so he deleted it.
The world of liberal commentators is nuts.

What dirty rotten scoundrels like Martin and his ilk fail to understand is how we exceptionally beautiful people are constantly and oppressively objectified. It's not our fault we won the genetic lottery!
Just because someone competes for jobs performing on camera in the hope that as many people as possible will pay to look at them, doesn't mean they're asking to be stared at and commented upon.

I'm liberal, and I completely agree with you, IL. It's ridiculous. Here's the backlash and counter-backlash on Facebook:

I liked Carrie Fisher's One Woman Show, Wishful Drinking. I liked her books where she really laid it all out there, even her ECT treatments and coping with being bipolar, but still made you laugh.
A lot of people only know Debbie Reynolds as Carrie Fishers mom but now hopefully, they will watch her movies.
Many people are feeling depressed about the numerous celebrity deaths (several of them were young) recently.
This has to be hard for her son and Carrie's other siblings.
Apparently, Debbie made peace with Elizabeth Taylor many years ago - not sure I could do that. That was quite the scandal back in the late 50s, and Debbie ended up raising her kids alone and ending up in two more bad marriages.
I was thinking that I remembered her from a show with puppets, and I was right, it was called Madame's Place.
I also seem to remember her being on the sitcom Mama's Family at some point but can't find any information on that.
You can tell that TV was one of my best friends as a kid (in addition to books).
I was not an athletic or outdoorsy type of child, and I was a loner, so TV was my friend.

I agree, it was amazing when I saw her running around shooting a gun and ordering the guys around. Plus she was never tempted by the dark side like those others. I am seeing things about how she is even more impactful in her brief role in the new movie as general. I think it is a pretty big deal there too, and shutting down all the people who were concerned about her gaining weight at 60. OMG.
