To start you all know I am super-sensitive. My kids are all introverts and sometimes socially anxious but basically sensitive too. So after my ex moved out we got to create our own style of family. Sometimes it was hard because of things like neighbor judgments (they all dressed uniquely and my oldest smoked so other kids weren't always allowed over to play). We had regular family meetings to talk about dinner menus, issues, whatever came up. Basically I think I taught them a lot of emotional skills despite the struggle with some mental health issues.

I have been taking my son to work a lot, I was already getting up very early for work myself for months so it worked out. Recently I got staffed for mornings but I was still taking him. So his girlfriend started taking him, honestly I was getting very tired and I said something once. So she has been taking him unless I have to go in really early. Last night I got home after a long day and used my new footbath. My son was cooking and brought me a plate of food automatically. I thanked him for having his gf take him to work because I had been getting exhausted, his answer was that he noticed. Then his gf cleaned the whole kitchen.

It just reminds me that our style (highly sensitive) does function. We function well together. We have conflict but we don't yell and scream, we talk. My son is the youngest assistant manager in his grocery store, he tells me things that shows he listens to people. He had a staff person they kept on trying to push for more hours until he went and explained that this was his second job and every time he quit he wasn't making enough with just one job but he was very valuable in his part time capacity. It may always be hard with the outside world honestly, it will be rare if someone listens to him the way he listens, but it works for us here.

I am getting ready to do a lot of staff training today, and so hesitant, low on confidence, feeling tired from the workload of creating all this, so this was very important.
