attacked several people in Sedona, Arizona. Apparently, many bobcats do contract rabies. I hope these people began treatment immediately because if you don't, then you die.

This is why the whole letting your animals run the neighborhood thing is so dangerous, and it happens here with a lot of feral cats.

If a child touches one of these cats and is scratched, it could be a death sentence. Yes, the authorities know about the feral cats but do nothing.

Make sure your animal has a vaccination and teach your children to stay away from stray animals. If they are scratched, bitten or get blood from an animal on them, then they need treatment immediately. Once you test positive for the disease, it is fatal.

Ds got bitten by a feral cat. The health department said he had a month to start shots and if the cat was still alive and healthy in two weeks, ds was fine.

Most feral cats attacked by larger wild animals Contract death, not rabies.

That is why dogs or other animals that bite a human and do not have a rabies vaccination are quarantined at home or in the pound for 14 days or so.

Here our HS had a trap and release program for feral cats . They are fixed and then put back where they caught them. They train a bunch of volunteers to do this. The hope is that the feral cat population gets smaller and smaller.

We have a huge Trap Neuter Release program here and a rabies shot is included as well as a complete physical. I used to work on spay days and it was amazing. It is possible that we have 2,000+ registered caretakers.

How long do they reckon those rabies shots are good for?

If they use the 3 year shot probably longer than 3 years. But we do not have a rabies issue in the cities or anywhere around them. In 2006, Indiana has its first case of human rabies since 1959 and one other in 2010. Both were "bat variant rabies".
