When I see news like this (Dean of Students at our promenent Univerity indicted for possessing child porn) a little niggling voice in my head has been telling me that we as a society have elevated child prnograpjy to a level of witch hunt.

I know that children are highly harmed in the manufacture of this stuff. But what happens when graphic arts production tehnique becomes so sophsticated that live himans no longer exist in porn?

Tell me that my little voice is wrong. Tell it to shut up. We are doing the right thing in society, yes?

I just don't get how people feel safe using the internet for pornography at all, especially if they are in prominent positions and ESPECIALLY if they are in prominent positions and into child pornography. Are they stupid?

And this thread is stupid, who started it, anyway? Haha. This guy did harm to society, children were hurt pretty severly to feed his hobby/compulsion/whatever you want to call it. The law needs to take him to task.

There is a famous case where the child harmed the industry; Traci Lords. She obtained false id, to get into the industry. Remember the Mrs. America scandal with Vanessa Williams? That issue of Penthouse, is illegal to sell with the center section intact, yet still sells on Ebay. (there is another issue Traci was in as well)
There is also issues with having people who either look or dress young. (Cinderella, who also played in the film Boogie Nights, as an underage girl as one example)
Point being, unless we are the Jury, we have no idea if he was obtaining it and looking at it for hours on end, or has a grandkid, who was looking at stuff, and he got the history from the kids computer and went to see what they were looking at. I have no idea, based on that article what he did, only what he is charged with. If it turned out that he was found not guilty, or even innocent, then what happens to his reputation?

Yes, the facts of this case can only be determined by the professional law enforcement people and his guilt determined in court. I hope there are mitigatng circumstances, but it isnt likely.
