after ten days in office. I feel like he is thumbing his nose at the American people. Next he'll be claiming workers' comp for a hand injury after signing so many executive orders. I tried to give him a chance but after the last ten days, I'm out.

I hear he's attending the 2017 Red Cross Ball at Mar-a-lago on Saturday and staying there Sunday as well.

After the past eight years of vacation shaming, it's not surprising some would think a president going on vacation is a bad thing.

What's he got left on his list of campaign promises he hasn't started on yet? I assume pulling out of NAFTA or NATO or putting together a big infrastructure package or scrapping the F-35 will require congressional action, which will take a little more time. I'd take a weekend off too if I were him.

I do believe over time more and more level headed people that were willing to give Trump a chance will change their minds as his actions become more and more (how to say this in a non-inflammatory way?) questionable (?), will take your stance and basically say, nope, stick a fork in me, I'm done supporting Trump. Bravo from the board's probably most loudly liberal member. And once again, Thank You - your post gives me some hope, it really does. Rob

I say let him stay on vacation at taxpayer expense for the next four years! There's been enough harm done already. Rob

Hey, would you rather have him "working" as he's been doing the last few days? As far as I'm concerned he can take the next 4 years off!

Hey, would you rather have him "working" as he's been doing the last few days? As far as I'm concerned he can take the next 4 years off!I could not agree with you more, MaryHu! I'm even down with his next four years being taxpayer supported in return for not signing any executive orders or touching any legislation in any way, shape, or form. I'll take it even further....let him work on his private businesses while on the taxpayer dime - in return for not creating any more chaos or destruction via his signature on executive orders. Rob

I agree. He should kick back and let Paul Ryan take it from here.

Hadn't Obama already been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by this many days into his first term?

what did medicare and social security ever do to you? You can count me out, better Trump.

(it's not like paul ryan even has a good side where someone could argue: "at least he's good on this one issue". Not that I've ever heard of. At least Trump isn't openly after medicare and social security)

Quite a difference from Trump!

The 2009 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to United States President Barack Obama for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples".[1] The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the award on October 9, 2009, citing Obama's promotion of nuclear nonproliferation[2] and a "new climate" in international relations fostered by Obama, especially in reaching out to the Muslim world.[3][4]

"When Barack Obama was announced as the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, even the fresh-faced president appeared a little shocked. "To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize," Obama said at the time (https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/remarks-president-winning-nobel-peace-prize).
Now, a former director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute has acknowledged that, in hindsight, he's not so sure if giving the prize to Obama was a good move either."

he's already screwing with Medicare, today he backed down on his promise to let Medicare negotiate better prices on meds with Big Pharma

I recall thinking at the time that he was embarrassed to have that honor bestowed without having done anything to deserve it.
Years later, when members of the Nobel committee admitted presenting the award based upon nothing more than best wishes, his embarrassment seemed to be validated. Of course, that's no fault of his, it just took a little time for the committee to realize that they shouldn't have put their faith in all that hopey, changey stuff.

The whole affair should also be a reminder to those of us who allow our emotions to influence our beliefs and actions. We end up looking foolish more often than not.

He was nominated in his first week or so of office. I'm wondering what specific accomplishments he had made at that point?

There were a number of legacy programs about Obama recently. It is too bad he didn't blow his own horn more. He is a humble man.

I find it odd to call "the weekend" a "vacation", and to make headline news out of it.

I bet next week there will be a weekend too...

I think EVERYONE needs time off... including (or maybe especially) the President. Why a big deal is made out of it at all is beyond me.

he managed to not be white and be elected President. Even after being accused non stop of being born in Kenya and a Muslim. An extraordinary feat in a nation of haters and racists.

kind of like the Muslim ban. Immigration reform, and even this temporary ban could have been done so much more thoughtfully and humanitarian without triggering so much angst.

when I read this I thought it said the Red Cross Bingo at Mar-A-Largo. A funny vision of tuxes, ball gowns and bingo cards.

attending the Red Cross Ball, which provides relief to refugees, is in poor taste, IMO. It's also at Mar a Lago, where it's been for years, but this year a President will be attending. Upping the desire for charities to hold their events there on the chance that he may be more open to attending. Trump also doubled membership fees just prior to becoming President. Nice.

Stephen Milo, a Miami resident who is organizing the protest, because of course there will be one, said, "The Red Cross does good things, but there's some irony in having the fundraiser there, and I do want to shed light on that. Wait a minute — you're talking about alleviating human suffering and you're having this event here?" quoted in US News and World Report.

Is this a huge deal on the scale of what he's done in the last 2 weeks? Probably not but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially after the American Soldier and 15 women and children died when Trump went forward with a mission he was warned not to do.

Warned by who? The Joint Chiefs? Central Command? Some anonymous coffee-fetcher?

Nothing in what you posted speaks to Trump disregarding warnings. Its just the usual second guessing.
