View Full Version : All the Attacks on Jewish Places....
I guess I didn't realize this was going on.........bomb threats on synagogues, vandalizing Jewish cemeteries, etc. What's with that??
Do you think some of Trump's talk has given people permission to take action against all the people they might not like?
I find it very strange. I've never had any problems with Jewish people and don't understand this. Is it a reaction to rejecting anyone else's religion?
It's a sorry state of affairs.

"Leave,” a woman shouted on the video, flipping her off. “You don’t like America, get the **** out … You are a disgrace to America,” the man walking next to her said.
They mocked her camera. “You can jack off to that later, the man drawled. “I’ve got a big ol’ white American redneck dick.”
The woman in the hijab told him where to stick it.
“I can put it up your little tight ass,” he countered, “and I won’t be hittin’ that clit, ’cause it already got removed.”

But remember, it's important for the Coastal Elites to be sympathetic to those outside of the liberal bubbles.

No one should be sympathetic to this.
No one should be sympathetic to this.
I agree. And while I acknowledge that not all trump supporters fit this stereotype enough do to make it a thing. And like it or not the rest of trump's supporters get tarred with the same brush. After all, it was only today, finally after months, and after he ignored and shut down a jewish questioner just the other day at the press conference, that he acknowledged the hate on jews that the rest of us have seen going on for months so it seems pretty obvious, at least to me, that he was in favor of it until it just got too bad that he couldn't ignore it anymore. But hey, lets all pretend it's 1969 again if we're not part of the dreaded "other".

And don't worry, I'd never accuse you of being a "coastal elite" That's my job, not yours. :)

Trump's response to the Jewish reporter was bizarre. Trump took the guy's question as a personal attack. I cant explain that.
but it is silly to think Trump s in favor of " hate on Jews." I wasnt aware of nationwide attacks on Jews until I watched that part of Trump's press conference, I guess I have other things going on in my life. But now a Jewish cemetary in St Louis was seriously vandalized and it came up at our neighborhood meeting tonight, so I am clued in. I also dont know what
" the government" is supposed to do about low life vandals carrying out random acts, as questioned by the Jewish reporter.
It's not "the government" that's supposed to solve this. It's the ****ING PRESIDENT who is supposed to stand up and say "THIS IS NOT OK ASSHOLES." but he only grudgingly did so after it became blatantly obvious to anyone that was slightly more alert and observant than him (thanks bae) that he was supporting the assholery. THAT is the problem with the douchebag in chief. He is part of the problem (actually no, he IS the problem) and will never be part of the solution.

No I don't. But then common sense is an oxymoron, and feelings are a separate thing from REASONING. Now people may choose to feel that way, but that is a separate thing from a reasonable reaction.

Can't say I have heard much on nationwide attacks, but haven't been watching much tv, and little has been heard on the radio. (might just be when I am listening, not typical news times)
However, is this the only cemetery that was hit? I ask because in our area, a few years back, they were going through doing the push over headstone things at different cemeteries. It wasn't just one group's cemetery. Was their other vandalism that shows targeting? (swastika's, etc)
Okay.....maybe my 'ignorance' is showing. Maybe I live in an area where Jewish women don't wear hijabs. In areas where these are more common, are they being confused with Islamists, and some people see them all as terrorists? (or just being different from themselves?) I was thinking it was just about Judaism and the perps were probably neo-Nazi types.

Again.......are you referring to my question or are you referring to those people who may have been encouraged by Trump's behavior?
I thought this was nice:
http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/22/politics/jewish-cemetery-muslims-fundraising-trnd/
(CNN)A fundraiser for a vandalized Jewish cemetery is sending a strong message of unity and tolerance.
The effort organized by Muslim American activists Linda Sarsour and Tarek El-Messidi was launched this week to fund the repairs of nearly 200 headstones that were damaged and toppled in the Chesed Shel Emeth Society cemetery in the St. Louis suburb of University City in Missouri.
The fundraiser exceeded its goal of $20,000 so fast, it has expanded into an effort to support Jewish community centers that have been targets of anti-Semitism.

You elites are so eloquent.
Some Trump supporters are nasty. Many of his opponents are nasty to the point of violence and vandalism.
Blaming one man for all the ills of a society when you insist "he IS the problem" indicates the same level of thinking that some of Trump's cruder supporters use.

Either that can't reason out that it doesn't give permission.

I will stay with him, because I love him, it must be my fault he hits me.
Thinking based on reasoning.....
If he hits me now, what would it be like if we got married and have kids?
I don't think separating the two is that hard to understand.
Yes, I understand those. But are you saying that my even posting the question is unreasonable? Or were you responding to those who are violent people and hurt others for no reason, other than they feel like that?
Your logic is hard for me to follow.

That seems like it would be a very silly mistake to make. Still, hateful people aren't known for their cleverness.
I was thinking it was just about Judaism and the perps were probably neo-Nazi types.
That's likely closer to the mark. Or other flavors of bad people trying to stir up trouble to sell their message.

You recently made a post about how you FEEL. The question you asked in this thread, I read as based on what you feel it is, rather then logic. The people who may react the way you anticipate, are also acting on feelings, not logic, or reasoning. (or they are trying to get others to react on feelings, instead of logic) I view both as looking at the same thing, through emotion, rather then reason.

Last time I heard, local LEOs had not determined it to be a hate crime. It was a LOT of stones overturned, 200. The timing of this is the same week as other damage to synagogs, but who knows, it could be random vandalization.
When we went to the cemetery yesterday, we didnt know that Vice President Pence would attend the cleanup. Just our governer was scheduled to attend. But when we saw many LEO vehicles and official looking ummarked cars, we thought it was a possibility. Then we saw one guy with Secret Service ID and knew the Vice President would be there.

How close to housing or late night business is the cemetery? 200 stones in 8 hours, especially with a group egging each other on, doesn't seem like much. Here they did more then stones, including some larger monuments/statues.
This is a massive problem with people doing things based on FEELINGS.
In 2006, in Seattle, the Seattle Jewish Federation was attacked and 6 people were shot.
Since then, most of my Jewish friends in Seattle have gone to their religious services and cultural events heavily armed.
I see the FBI has made an arrest in St. Louis. No direct connection to Trump, just a journalist fired by a web site for fabricating quotes.

It will be interesting to see if it is charged as a hate crime, which of course will start the long standing debate about crime and hate and thought policing, etc.

I suppose that if your best argument is the wickedness of the other side you do your best to play up any evidence that comes your way, manufacturing it where necessary.

Last weekend the Fargo-Moorhead Islamic Community Center was vandalized by a lone male with spray paint. The graffiti was discovered around 5:20 Sunday morning.
A Go Fund Me site raised more than $30,000 for the center.
On Monday 400 volunteers from the Fargo-Moorhead area arrived with cleaning supplies and went to work removing all traces of the graffiti.
The local police and FBI are investigating.
I commend the decency and efforts of the 400. In Fargo-Moorhead there were roughly 400 people willing and able to be civil toward a religious minority, compared to the hateful one with a can of spray paint. 400:1
I am disenheartened by the last several years during which people seem to have no filter at all....people seem to think it's just fine to express their absolute hatred towards Jews, blacks, Asians, LGBQT+, and any other minority group that's not them

Since this old thread has been revived, I thought would go out to the Internet to see what happened to the perpetrators of the Jewish cemetery vandalism here inSt. Louis.

The perp got zero jail time. The perp was simply a drunk jerk acting out of his own personal anger. There was no tying this to hate crime or Jewish hate.
That is probably disappointing for Trump haters, but of course we can always blame the police in failing to get the real story. Consistent with new post-Michael Brown prosecution procedures, the guy will spend no time in jail. I’m sure he will never actually give any money that he supposed to give.
I am disenheartened by the last several years during which people seem to have no filter at all....
Yes, look at the abuse being poured on Tim Scott: “Uncle Tim”, “Oreo”, etc. by bigots who think he should know his place, which in their minds is clearly not the GOP.

I suspect we will see a resurgence of antifa. I recall there were conspiracy theories blaming antifa for the attack on the capitol. I think Donald was a catalyst for their rise, but seem to have gone silent. They could be a convenient whipping boy for all violent demonstrations. I recall don tried to have them condemned as a terrorist organization.

Just as an aside, it is interesting that when this thread started back in 2017 it was Trumpsters who were sorta blamed for the atmosphere of hate towards Jews.
My how the times have changed. So many progressives are up in arms about anything remotely resembling Israel support.
Either way, Jewish people are getting crap. I guess that is typical over the centuries.
I was surprised to learn that Stephen Miller is Jewish. He has always sort of reminded me of Himmler, and may still on certain issues. I can learn more, but he's always appears to follow the isolationist school of trump.
As much as I've tried, I've never understood what people have against the Jewish people. It's just odd. And especially bizarre of any reversion to Nazi activism in America. Some have told me it goes back to biblical times when they were money lenders, but in modern days maybe any group that is different from white nationalism might be at risk.

Speaking of convenient whipping boys, I see three “activists” in Colorado Springs recently got caught creating a cross burning hoax aimed at helping a mayoral candidate.
