I see that the creator of one of my favorite fictional detectives, Inspector Morse, has died. I can remember when a new Morse novel was cause to block out a weekend and lay in some supplies. I also remember that John Thaw was on of the few actors who actually matched my mind's-eye picture of the character in the book.

I'll have to listen to some Wagner tonight in tribute.

Very sad. Love his books and the movies made from them. We even went on a trip to Oxford that was arranged around Inspector Morse and things from the books and area. Saw the streets mentioned, visited the Jerico site where they filmed and had a lovely time. He was sick when we went and was unable to come to talk to our group.

I loved both the books and the TV series.

I even like the Endeavour TV series, the 'young Morse' prequel.

RIP Colin Dexter

I loved the 2 PBS series but never read the books. Great stories from Colin Dexter.

I read the books years ago but had to keep a dictionary close by. So many words I didn't know!

Have not read the books but just finished watching the Inspector Morse series. I have Inspector Lewis at home on DVD and about to get started on it. RIP Colin Dexter.
