http://www.simplelivingforum.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=1738&stc=1Sorry pic is sideways. Why do these tip however? not deep enough?http://www.simplelivingforum.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=1739&stc=1
They are supposed to be planted shallow...but I have no idea why they tip. Did you have a lot of rain. Seems mine tip over after a rain, they must hold water. I use to have some of those flower support rings but I have flower beds all over my yard and it was hard to decide who to give support to and who not to...so I got rid of the rings. I must divide my Iris this summer! I love the white with purple edge on your Iris...beautiful!
Meanwhile, does Iris Lilies know this type of lily?1740 I can't remember when or where I got it but they are stunning and my current favorite patch of lilies around my frog pond.

Float On, the lily could be " Tiny Padhye," it has that coloration. "Tiny Padhye" is a short one, 18" or so.

That Iris is flopping over because its stems are too weak to support all the flowers on it. That may be a problem specific to that cultivar.
In some cases strong winds and rain blow over the iris and there isntmuch you can do about it if the rain and wind are unusually strong. Sometimes they have a weak stems because they have poor cultural treatment such as inadequate sun.
The pink ones in your photo that are laying on the ground do have three open blooms and that is a fair number of blooms. But still, stems should support it. Hybridizers look carefully at new iris for stem strength before they introduce a new cultivar to the marketplace.
For me, if an iris consistently blows over year after year, and in my cultural environment where they get full sun, I dig it up and throw it away.
That blue stiched plicata is similar to one of the first iris I had when I started to get serious about iris 15 -20 years ago. It never stood up stright for me, it had weak stems. It is long gone from my garden. But the pink one is the one laying down in your garden. It kinda looks like "Beverly Sills" which is relatively strong for me.
I use those wire things that you put in the ground and they can hold a stem up. Last year I bought "Blueberry Bliss" and they are so tall, I have to use that wire.

I think Ive seen Blueberry Bliss in one of our shows. Schreiner makes some decent iris.
Last week DH and I attended the American Iris Society convention in Des Moines snd we toured iris gardens for two days, evaluating new introductions. It is interesting to see the same iris in different gardens. It is also interesting to hear some of the out there names for new introductions. My favorites were " Why Cows Gossip" and " Mean Sharon."
thanks for the info. I love them but hate the tipping and was making choice if this was the last year for them.

Oh no no no! Non. You cant delete iris from you garden, that would be so wrong. Haha.
Try "Dividing line" which makes the most beautiful clump you have ever seen. It is a miniature tall bearded iris that doesnt blow over because it has small flowers.

Tall bearded iris with big thick stalks include "Skating Party," an early 80's white iris that grows like an s.o.b. Also, the newer "Gypsy Lord" has pretty impressive thick stalks as well as being completely stunning:
